We adopted Pipedrive for our sales team because we were looking for a CRM that was sales focused and didn't come with all the other unnecessary features and complexity of other solutions. We have been very happy with Pipedrive and our sales team consistently have good things to say about it. More importantly though our sales team do actually add and update the data which had been a problem with our previous CRM which was too complex and cumbersome to get regular useage. The reporting functionality is good too and I can get a clear view on deals and where they are up to.
Pipedrive has made our business much more efficient in following up deals. Keep track of deals, meetings, mails and phone calls all in one place. We can quickly follow up on offers and used Pipedrive's automations and API to integrate our Vizito trials directly into Pipedrive.

All alternatives are good but we prefer Pipedrive because of its great customization and most fit for company/business development.
Based on our record, Birdeye should be more popular than Pipedrive. It has been mentiond 6 times since March 2021. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
WRT to your second point, I wouldn't consider these fake responses because the owners are given time to approve it. It's an assistant workflow basically. Also, Google doesn't really concern about automating responses, which is why they provide API for companies to automate responses. I donโt know a CRM that can provide all of that, especially in one tool, but I could try naming you a few, such as Zidy, Hubspot, BirdEye and Podium, which you could try out and see if they have features to help you with what you need. I feel like Microsoft could offer a more robust CRM than what's present with 'Contacts' under Outlook, and pretty easily. Something like Pipedrive...
