Rectangle and its paid cousin, Hookshot (https://hookshot.app) are great. I use Hookshot. They are the best window managers I've used on MacOS, because the resize features work flawlessly every single time. Other ones I've tried (e.g. bettertouchtool) have occasional issues with that. They'd be perfect if they supported full customization of drop zones. They have some limited customization, including via the... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Since a few people already have mentioned Rectangle for Window management, I wanted to point out that there is also a payed version of it called Hookshot (https://hookshot.app/). The same developer also offers a great app called Hyperkey (https://hyperkey.app/) which defines CAPS as your hyper-key. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Hookshot - A mouse/gesture-based window manager. I always have one installed and then almost never use it. This I started using right away. Then I realized the only things I used it for were built into Raycast. Still, it's my favorite of the window management tools that I've tried. Source: over 2 years ago
I've got the same setup. Hookshot and SwitchResX are essential. Source: over 2 years ago
The LG software is trash, I bought Hookshot.app to better manage my windows. Source: over 2 years ago
For me the game-changer that is least well-known is https://hookshot.app/ -- it's a window snapper that is by the creator of Rectangle, but it adds one superb feature: hold down a modifier (I use Ctrl+Command) and flick the mouse in a given direction, and it repositions the window under the mouse. Given a bunch of open windows, makes it super easy to set up the right pair side by side in a 50/50 or 67/33 split for... Source: over 2 years ago
I’d recommend Hookshot instead of Rectangle. They’re made by the same developer, but Hookshot is like Rectangle on steroids (and so much faster to use IMO). Here’s a quick comparison between them: https://medium.com/ryan-hanson/what-if-you-could-use-a-hookshot-to-move-windows-in-macos-14cdbe5fe1c0. Source: over 2 years ago
True story. Window management and window switching are the two most inconvenient things in macOS that bother me. (the third one is buggy Finder). That is why I use Hookshot and AltTab apps to fix it. Too bad it's impossible to fix Finder by ourselves. Source: over 2 years ago
Beyond that, I have a pretty in-depth custom shortcut builder in my paid superset of Rectangle, Hookshot. https://hookshot.app. Source: over 2 years ago
This isn’t in Rectangle (nor Magnet) because it’s a macOS shortcut (cmd+m). You can change that shortcut in system prefs. I’m the dev behind Rectangle, and I replicated the Windows shortcut states in my paid superset of Rectangle, Hookshot (https://hookshot.app) - if you want something closer to Windows behavior. Hookshot app is even better, especially if you use a mouse as I do. It can perform some mouse gestures for windows management (similar to Logitech Master 3). Source: over 2 years ago
For those of you with MacBooks and Trackpads, BetterSnapTool or Magnet is probably still the best solution out there. But those who have a desktop setup with a keyboard and a mouse might find this setup a total game changer like I did. It's a one-handed setup that involves a mouse with side buttons (Logi MX Master 3 for me) and a combination of SteerMouse and Hookshot. Source: over 2 years ago
Wow, now that you mention it this person does have some cool apps. For example, Hookshot (https://hookshot.app) does snapping with your cursor anywhere on an app. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Check out Hookshot. It's even more powerful. Source: over 2 years ago
I’m the dev behind Rectangle. Being stuck to predefined sizes/positions is intentional to keep the app simple, although there are ways to get a custom centered size via terminal commands. My paid superset of Rectangle, Hookshot (https://hookshot.app) is where I’ve added a custom shortcut builder, where you can specify size and position. It also allows you to define additional sizes and positions that are executed... Source: over 2 years ago
A little late to the party, but I'm the dev behind Rectangle. It sounds like you're looking for something with a little more flexibility than Rectangle, and I can't help but chime in to suggest Hookshot. It is my paid superset of Rectangle, and it has a lot of features that I find useful for larger displays. Source: almost 3 years ago
I previously used Magnet but recently got an Ultrawide and switched to Rectangle or Hookshot. Source: almost 3 years ago
Checked out swish, but I think I'll stick with https://hookshot.app. The idea is nice, but while it is customisable, it is too limiting. Hookshot gets it just right :/. Source: almost 3 years ago

Hummingbird is dead. Use Hookshot instead.. Active development and plenty of options. https://hookshot.app/. Source: about 3 years ago
Maybe you should also try to install Magnet, Hookshot, or Grid to be able to quickly adjust windows size and position. Source: about 3 years ago
