I think that RM should consider a solution such as UserVoice which will let the user community vote on what critical bug fixes or new features we feel are most important. I'm a new coder too. What helps me is finding a good place to learn the most basic principles and having 2-5 things I want to do. I started with codedex.io , learning Python and HTML and then took their courses and moved on looking for projects with tutorials. Little steps one by one.
