A task manager organized around next actions instead of due dates. You open it to the things you can do right now, grouped by context. Dates are set only when a deadline is real, so nothing is ever marked late.

tingdo is a task manager built on Getting Things Done, organized around next actions instead of due dates.

Most task apps put deadlines at the center. Miss one and you feel behind. Miss a few more and you stop trusting the system. tingdo takes the opposite approach: work is organized by context and intention, and a date is set only when a deadline is real. Nothing is ever marked late.

How it works

  • Next actions are the home screen. You open tingdo to the things you have decided to do next, grouped by context, so you can pick what fits where you are and what you have with you.
  • Capture takes a title and nothing more. The next bar handles capture, search, and navigation from a single input. A task with project, context, and deadline takes one line of text.
  • Projects nest as deep as you need. Every project keeps its own next action, so nothing stalls quietly.
  • A guided weekly review. Five steps through inbox, projects, someday, and waiting-for, one item at a time. Skipping a week has no consequences.
  • Offline first. Everything works without a connection and syncs when you are back.

What it leaves out, on purpose

No recurring tasks, no subtasks, no priority levels, no attachments, no calendar view. Anything you never use still asks for attention every time you open the app.

  • Add a new task to NirvanaHQ
The NirvanaHQ productivity app -- one of the better GTD-style todo apps -- is not Siri-enabled nor has a Share With... function. (The former is a killer, I mean, how many times do you want to jot down a note while driving?!). Source: about 4 years ago
