The thing that I personally like about Evernote is that before I have used word as my note taking application, than on my smartphone I have had used Google Keep and so my notes were just unorganized mess. But with Evernote now I can have my notes at one place and unified. Also the fact that I can log to another device and my notes are "just there" is really nice. And also I like graphics user interface of Evernote.

Obsidian is a multi-platform note-taking and writing app. Simple enough. But aren't there plenty of those around? Yes absolutely, but they each have downsides that I wasn't able to settle with long-term. With Google Cloud it was the difficult of linking between notes (this has improved since but it's still not quite what I want). Yeah, I'm actually doing that with Gitea: https://about.gitea.com/ Some people went with the forgejo fork: https://forgejo.org/ though Gitea itself was a fork of Gogs, if I remember correctly: https://gogs.io/ I also ran GitLab in the past: https://about.gitlab.com/ but keeping it updated and giving it enough resources for it to be happy was troublesome.
