Descript MegaComing from a video editing background, Descript might take some getting used to. But once you figure it out, it speeds up your editing (especially interviews/long-form voiceover). The captions are very nice to work with, but a bit limited in terms of styles. There are a lot more caption styles, transitions, and effects in CapCut, but Descript excels in simplicity and speed.
The saved layouts (you can make your own) are very good if you want to create a bunch of videos on different topics with the same design scheme or branding.
Mega might be a bit more popular than Descript. We know about 14 links to it since March 2021 and only 12 links to Descript. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
For transcripts, I use Descript. Descript is able to identify all four of our panel members, and I usually spend an hour or so cleaning it up and setting the transcript into a video for YouTube. Source: about 3 years ago

Upload what is on that stick to a cloud based system that is not vulnerable to degradation of hardware, you can get a lot of storage for free on sites like dropbox.com, mega.nz, or icloud. You can also always make multiple backups. Source: almost 3 years ago

- If you want a native encrypted cloud storage, one of the better priced ones is Mega. The free tier gives you up to 20GB to use. Here's a referral link if you want extra free storage a well. It's still E2EE, but not open-sourced. They do, however, have an audit on their encryption and source codes.
