If you have an issue with say a blue which is too light you can usually darken it, whilst still keeping the overall colour pallet. This won't work with colours like green, orange or gold as they don't darken nicely. Work out a colour scheme first, there are general selections (as RyotMakr said, green+gold+purple is what you'll see most often as it's the general depiction) but you can do what you want, really. There are a few very cool concepts in this sub (just scroll down past the 10th Edition hate and you'll find them). Sure! I'm certainly no artist either, but a little knowledge about this stuff goes a long way. There are plenty of curated or algorithmic resources for picking nice palettes if you don't feel up to the task of building one from scratch, like Lospec, ColorHunt, Coolors, and Canva.
