I found CSS Battle to be quite handy for practice. I basically ignore most of the 'do it in the fewest characters' part of the challenge, as that is generally the opposite of what you want to do in real CSS, but it's good for some aspects of becoming familiar with some of the nuts and bolts of CSS.
