Zim Wiki
GitHub CodespacesZim Wiki is recommended for students, writers, researchers, and professionals who want a straightforward yet powerful tool for organizing their notes and managing projects. It is particularly suited for those who prefer a local application that doesn't rely on cloud services and who appreciate the ability to work offline with an open-source solution.
GitHub Codespaces might be a bit more popular than Zim Wiki. We know about 152 links to it since March 2021 and only 131 links to Zim Wiki. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
Yeah, I'm a long time user/disciple of https://zim-wiki.org ; it was basically Obsidian but 15-20 years early. To do some of the things that are now trivially easy with Obsidian I learned scripting and such, so I'm familiar with this very weird coincidence/name collision. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
I would recommend Obsidian to new users. I've been using Zim Wiki for years; back then there was nothing better available and I now can't be bothered to migrate formats. https://obsidian.md/ https://zim-wiki.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
And for those who are only vaguely familiar, this ZIM file format is not the same as the https://zim-wiki.org one. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
I didn't know that Obsidian worked that cleanly; I occasionally flirt with it but have been using https://zim-wiki.org for about a decade longer, so my muscle memory is there. I keep looking for reasons to switch but so far nothing yet has done that? - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
Not quite shell -- but obligatory: I've been using http://zim-wiki.org for now .. decades? As my main driver for most everything in my life, including my personal and teaching website, custom template I made. jrm4.com. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
First, remote dev environments became table stakes. GitHub Codespaces, Gitpod, and self-hosted dev containers became how serious teams worked. Every engineer I know who ships to production now SSHs into a box they didn't provision, edits files with whatever editor is installed, and commits from a terminal. An IDE-bound agent requires you to also forward your IDE to the remote box, which most people don't bother... - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
This package provides support for managing GitHub Codespaces in Emacs and connecting to them via TRAMP. It provides a handy completing-read UI that lets you choose from all your created codespaces. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
GitHub Codespaces provides 60 hours of free compute time every month, which is more than enough for scoped home assignments or interviews. Itโs a full VSCode in the browser at github.dev or vscode.dev. - Source: dev.to / 7 months ago
GitHub Codespaces - Cloud development. - Source: dev.to / 12 months ago
https://github.com/features/codespaces All you need is a well-defined .devcontainer file. Debugging, extensions, collaborative coding, dependant services, OS libraries, as much RAM as you need (as opposed to what you have), specific NodeJS Versions โ all with a single click. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
