Sorting Hat is an AI native ATS and CRM built exclusively for staffing, search, RPO and GCC management firms.

What it does: - Sources from the firm's own database first, then inbound and outbound, using natural language search across internal records and LinkedIn - Runs AI screening calls and AI video interviews, and writes the notes onto the candidate record automatically - Chases candidates across phone, WhatsApp, email and LinkedIn without recruiter effort - Covers front and back office in one system, including pay and bill, timesheets and invoicing - Connects to 400+ tools through pre-built integrations and an open read and write API

How it differs: - Migrates firms off Bullhorn, Ceipal, Recruit CRM and Recruiterflow with no data loss, including comments and attachments - Includes implementation, customisation and hands-on adoption support, on the view that buying AI is easy and ground-level adoption is the hard part - Hosts data in the client's own country. SOC 2 and ISO 27001 in progress

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Sortinghat and Manatal.

What makes your product unique?

Sortinghat's answer

Sorting Hat is an ATS and CRM built exclusively for staffing, search and RPO firms, not a general hiring tool adapted for agencies. Three things set it apart. First, AI is native to the workflow rather than added on: AI voice screening calls, AI video interviews, natural language search across the firm's own database, and notes that write themselves onto the record. Second, migration off Bullhorn, Ceipal, Recruit CRM or Recruiterflow is handled with no data loss, including comments and attachments. Third, implementation, customisation and hands-on adoption support are included, because buying AI is easy and getting recruiters to actually use it is the part most firms fail at.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Sortinghat's answer

Legacy platforms were built as systems of record. Recruiters still do the sourcing, chasing and screening by hand, and spend 60 to 70 percent of the week on admin. Sorting Hat absorbs that work, so the same headcount carries roughly twice the roles. It also sources from the firm's own database before spending on job portals, which cuts portal spend by around 40 percent. Front and back office sit in one system, including pay and bill, timesheets and invoicing, so contract desks do not need a second tool. Data is hosted in the client's own country, with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 in progress. Migration and training are part of the deal, not a paid add-on.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Sortinghat's answer

Scalene Works Peoplefy Scrabble Codersbrain Jigsaw Interned Atlass Partners

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Sortinghat's answer

Staffing, recruitment, executive search, RPO and GCC management firms, from teams of ten recruiters to firms of 400+ employees. It fits both niche search desks and high volume hiring desks, and works for firms running contingency, retained or contract models. Typical buyers are founders, delivery heads and operations leaders who are either running a legacy ATS they have outgrown, or have bought AI tools their recruiters never adopted

What's the story behind your product?

Sortinghat's answer

Apoorv Tamrakar started a talent search firm at 18 and scaled it to a 15 member team. Running that desk made the problem obvious: recruiters spent most of their week on chasing, screening and data entry, none of which is the part clients pay for, and every tool on the market was built to store records rather than do the work. Sorting Hat was built from that experience, as the platform he wanted while running an agency. The team now works with staffing firms globally, and one early finding shaped the product: after auditing 3M candidate records at a single firm, around 10 percent were duplicates and 10 percent unusable, meaning firms keep paying job portals for profiles they already own.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Sortinghat's answer

I don't know your actual stack, so fill this one in yourself rather than let me guess. It usually wants front end, back end, database, hosting and AI layer. Send me the list and I will write it up to match the tone of the rest.

Great Day-to-Day Tool for Recruitment Agencies

My experience with Manatal has been smooth and productive. It keeps everything organized from candidate tracking to client communication and saves time on repetitive tasks. Itโ€™s a solid platform that helps me stay focused on finding the right talent instead of dealing with admin work. Definitely a reliable choice for recruitment agencies like ours.

Effortless to keep tabs on recruitment operations

The software has been a fantastic asset to me in my role as a Recruiter. As a result of using it, our team's output has improved and we're better able to fulfill the needs of our clients.

Pros:    This software has been a game-changer for our recruitment process - it has streamlined operations and made them more efficient. the ability to easily access and update candidate information has been a major plus, and the simplicity of the process is a real plus. this has been particularly helpful during these challenging times, as we've had to make adjustments due to the pandemic and other unforeseen events.
Cons:    I can't think of anything significant to complain about. the primary advantage is that it has decreased the amount of manual work, giving us more time for other projects. one thing that would be helpful is the addition of features for more in-depth candidate assessments, like skills tests or video interviews.

    Fully-customizable HR tool

Altogether, my experiences with Manatal's product and staff have been excellent. Incredible people who care about the success of my company as much as their own career growth. The product is top-notch and easy to use. The availability of robust featuresย helped us boost our productivity and efficiency.

Pros:    It is amazing to have the opportunity to construct a pipeline that is tailored to a particular job. we have the ability to set up an infinite number of pipelines and recruitment phases with just a few clicks of the mouse. we are able to customize our hiring processes to meet the requirements of each individual position since the entry-level, intermediate, and senior positions that we are looking to fill differ so greatly from industry to industry. being able to make changes as needed is, therefore, a huge benefit to us.
Cons:    I'd like the search bar to apply for candidates who have been removed from the current pool of candidates but are still in the system for some reason. i'm not able to do that right now because i need to unarchive the candidates first before it can work.

The per-seat value play. Manatal prices like a small tool and behaves like a bigger one: $19/user/mo, or $15 billed annually (captured July 2026), with AI candidate scoring and sourcing included from the entry plan rather than sold as an enterprise add-on. In my test on a live role, its AI search returned 106 ranked matches and the pipeline ran through to a hire, detailed in...

Best Zoho Recruit alternatives (2026): tested standalone picks
Scores on this site exist only for tools that have been through a real hiring run on my own account; the method is documented in how WiserStaff tests tools. Manatal (9/10) and Breezy HR (9/10) are tested hands-on, through the same live junior-developer role, and Tellent (8/10) through a lighter trial run with a published job and a sample-candidate pipeline. Best JazzHR alternatives (2026): tested picks for small teams
Tested (Jul 2026): 9/10. From $19/user/mo ($15 billed annually) on Professional, which caps you at 15 open jobs and 10,000 candidates, room JazzHR Heroโ€™s three-postings-a-month allowance doesnโ€™t offer, at roughly half Heroโ€™s price for a three-seat team.
