I know it's not as cheap as your current carrier, but have you considered moving to Google Fi? They currently don't support 5G on iPhones, and they're probably a bit more expensive than your current plan. However you could just use the Flexible plan when you're mostly using WiFi and only upgrade to Unlimited Plus when you're traveling. - If you want a native encrypted cloud storage, one of the better priced ones is Mega. The free tier gives you up to 20GB to use. Here's a referral link if you want extra free storage a well. It's still E2EE, but not open-sourced. They do, however, have an audit on their encryption and source codes.
