FortifyData
CryptomatorFortifyData's answer
FortifyData is unique because it brings together everything an organization needs to manage cyber risk in one place. It offers a real-time, unified view across internal systems, cloud infrastructure, external threats, and third-party vendorsโwithout needing multiple tools. Unlike platforms that rely on occasional scans, FortifyData continuously discovers assets, monitors for new risks, and helps teams prioritize what to fix first. It also goes beyond just sending vendor questionnaires by actively assessing third-party risk and scanning the dark web for exposed data. With built-in tools for frameworks like NIST, ISO, and HIPAA, it's designed to make compliance and risk management more efficient and effective.
FortifyData's answer
A person should choose FortifyData because it offers a more complete, upโtoโdate, and actionable view of cyber risk than many alternatives. It doesnโt only offer external scans or vendor questionnaires โ it continuously discovers internal, external, cloud, and thirdโparty assets; assesses vulnerabilities; pulls in threat intelligence; and alerts you to exposures like dark web leaks. Realโtime risk scoring that you can tune with your own priorities (asset criticality, threat likelihood, etc.) ensures youโre focusing on what matters most. Add in policy automation, builtโin compliance with major standards, and a unified dashboard rather than patching together tools โ FortifyData delivers both efficiency and depth that many competitors donโt.
FortifyData's answer
FortifyDataโs primary audience includes mid-size to large enterprises, IT and security teams, compliance officers, and risk managers who need a smarter, more efficient way to manage cyber risk and regulatory compliance. These are organizations that deal with complex infrastructureโoften across internal systems, cloud environments, and third-party vendorsโand want a single platform to continuously monitor, prioritize, and reduce their exposure. Whether itโs a healthcare provider trying to stay HIPAA-compliant, a financial institution managing vendor risk, or a tech company looking to protect cloud assets, FortifyData is built for professionals who need real-time insights, automation, and clarity in a rapidly evolving threat landscape.

> I dislike Dropbox for reasons that aren't technical, but the big thing for me is that I want either E2EE, or control/ownership of where my data is stored. You could run something like Cryptomator on top of Dropbox: https://cryptomator.org/ It even has (paid) iOS and Android apps for mobile access. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
This is Nice. However, how do one access their diary, when you stopped maintaining it? Is this targeted more at the technically inclined, high-profile people who need to keep secrets? Personally, I believe that for something like a diary/journal, it should be in a format easily readable by most tools (so a Plain-Text or a MarkDown at best), then it is in a container/folder. Now, encrypt that container/folder... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
If you still want/need cloud storage, but don't want to roll your own (with the warts that brings), Cryptomator is an excellent tool for source encrypting your data before uploading them. It works transparently, and has clients for Mac/Windows as well as iOS/Android. It's also open source, and "free" (IIRC there's a one time fee for the mobile client). https://cryptomator.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
- Syncthing (https://syncthing.net/) to keep the files synchronized between desktops and laptops computers - Webdav (https://github.com/hacdias/webdav) to access the files on the server via other applications - Cryptomator (https://cryptomator.org/) to crypt/decrypt sensible directories. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
While I get the whole homelab thing is exiting and a great learning experience, it's simply not worth the time and effort for the majority of people. You will end up paying much more for your services, along with spending a ton of time maintaining it (and if you don't, you will probably find yourself on the end of a 0-day hack sometime). In Northern/Western Europe, where power costs around โฌ0.3/kWh on average,... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
