  • Mixing low end in headphones?
Additionally, there's a great plugin by GoodHertz called CanOpener which simulates loudspeaker crossfeed, and it is incredibly helpful. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Finally able to start setting up my work from home/software development/home studio space - looking for some "budget" reference/monitor speakers?

  • Just picked up a pair of ATH r70x and I have a few questions
It's a bit pricey but I ended up buying Ghz CanOpener because it's just soooo good. It's almost necessary for 60s hard panned stereo recordings, but honestly it makes almost everything sound "right" like it is coming out of speakers rather than inside my head. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Need help understanding how to make Mid and High range sound more in your face without having a piercing effect. (D&B, DUBSTEP, EDM)
If you only have headphones, then maybe you should use the can opener plug-in by good heartz on your master bus. I believe this plug-in emulates speakers. And I’ve heard it’s really good. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Ear fatigue/sensitivity after mixing in headphones for a long time
This isn’t a solution or a replacement for the other advice (and I don’t mean to shill), but I’ve found that CanOpener by Goodhertz helps to alleviate some of the fatigue when mixing with headphones. It seems like the “soft start” feature is the part that helps. I’m sure you could recreate it with a noise gate or something, I think basically it just helps by softening the transients a bit.
