Post Formatter is a free browser extension and set of online tools for adding text formatting to social platforms that only accept plain text. It converts text into Unicode characters that render as bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, and 20+ font styles, so the formatting displays correctly on LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, and Pinterest.
The extension formats text inline as you write, with keyboard shortcuts, a live post preview, Smart Paste from Google Docs / Word / Notion, draft management, a character counter, and optional AI proofreading and auto-styling (with your own OpenRouter API key).

A Chrome Extension (Manifest V3) written in TypeScript and React, with its UI rendered in a Shadow DOM so it doesn't clash with host-page styles. Text styling uses Unicode Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols rather than HTML/CSS. Optional AI features call the OpenRouter API. The companion site (postformatter.com) is built with Astro, React and Tailwind CSS, hosted on Cloudflare Pages.
