TickTick's Pros & Cons in 2019

Is TickTick Better Than Todoist? (Task Manager Review 2019)

TickTick: The full Premium Review

Reviews

  1.
    Has every feature

Using this specifically for school. It has all the features of microsoft to-do and google tasks. After using Notion, I became accustomed to viewing tasks in a certain date range and being able to tag assignments, which neither of the aforementioned apps could do the same way. This keeps track of all tasks, their due date, type tags, and folders separated by class. Simple and fast windows app, android app, and android widgets.

  • Mac URL Scheme
First, go to the list on the ticktick.com website. That'll give you a url like this: "https://ticktick.com/webapp/#p/123456789123456789/tasks. (The string of numbers will change depending on the particular list). The URL to jump to this list in the TickTick app is then "ticktick:///webapp/#p/123456789123456789/tasks". This works on my Mac running Sonoma. Source: almost 2 years ago

Basically the problem I have is that I removed some recurring tasks with daily reminders, but the reminders did not disappear from the "ticktick.com" calendar. • Whats your favourite app that can work as a calendar and also effectively time-block out tasks?
In March 2020 Covid hit and I found lots of time to experiment again. I tried everything but nothing seemed really good. This is when I stumbled on Asana. As my job shifted to more of long-term projects, it seemed like a nice fit. Asana had a calendar that you could โ€œsubscribeโ€ to and view it on Google calendar, but it was only 1-way and not great for making changes. I would have to go to Asana, make a time and/or... Summary of the public mentions of TickTick

TickTick has carved out a distinctive niche in the crowded task management and productivity tool market. Known for its versatility, TickTick spans across various categories such as task management, project management, to-do lists, note-taking, and habit tracking. This multifunctionality appeals to users seeking a comprehensive solution for organizing their personal and professional lives.

Key Features and Strengths

TickTick distinguishes itself with a robust set of features that enhance productivity. The app includes task scheduling, reminders, habit tracking, a Pomodoro timer, and shareable lists, making it a favored choice among students and professionals alike. The seamless integration of a calendar provides users with a convenient overview of their tasks, supporting efficient time management and planning. Additionally, TickTick supports markdown notes, a critical feature for users familiar with the Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology, though it lacks advanced features like syntax highlighting, which might limit its appeal to programmers seeking a tool to store code snippets.

TickTick's interface is praised for its sleek design and user experience. Many users appreciate its simplicity and effectiveness in managing tasks, offering a clutter-free environment for productivity. It also stands out for its affordability compared to some competitors like Todoist while offering added functionalities like calendar integration and a Pomodoro timer.

Integration and Compatibility

While TickTick is lauded for its built-in features, integration with other tools presents both opportunities and challenges. Users benefit from features like the URL scheme that facilitates task management across different platforms. However, integration with external calendars, notably Google Calendar, remains problematic for some. Users have reported issues with recurring reminders, which are exacerbated by TickTick's insufficient two-way synchronization with Google Calendar. These limitations suggest room for improvement, particularly in the appโ€™s interoperability with third-party services.

Public Perception and Comparisons

In the task management domain, TickTick competes with other notable apps like Todoist, Trello, Asana, and Microsoft To-Do. Public opinion often skews favorably toward TickTick due to its extensive feature set and cost-effectiveness. For instance, while Todoist may be considered a direct competitor, TickTick offers a broader range of features, such as habit tracking, for a lower cost, making it an attractive alternative.

However, not all feedback is without criticism. Some users view TickTick's simplicity as a double-edged sword, lacking the depth required for intricate project management tasks. This limitation is highlighted when compared to more comprehensive project management tools like ClickUp or Asana, which offer more bells and whistles but may be overkill for personal use or simple task management.

Conclusion

Overall, TickTick's versatility and affordability make it a popular choice among users needing a holistic productivity tool. It effectively combines essential functions for task management, note-taking, and habit tracking, appealing to a wide range of needs. However, users requiring advanced integration features, especially with Google Calendar, may encounter some limitations. Despite these constraints, TickTick continues to receive significant acclaim for its user-centric design and feature-rich platform, thus securing its position in the competitive landscape of productivity tools.
