Social recommendations and mentions

We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about Sync.com and what they use it for.
  • How to Send Private Info via Email
Encrypted Cloud Storage: I use services like Sync.com or Tresorit. They offer end-to-end encrypted cloud storage. You upload your file, and then share a secure link with the recipient. The key here is that they (the cloud provider) can't see your data, only you and your recipient can. - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
  • How do you pro guys backup your workstation?
External portable SSD for weekly Time Machine backups, stored offsite. Cloud-based storage (sync.com) with version control for frequently used documents. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Apps compatibility between ultra tab c (Android 11) and Air 3 c (Androids 12)
I am moving from an ultra tab c to an air 3 c and strangely enough one of my apps (sync.com cloud storage) can be installed in the ultra tab c but it says its not compatible with the air 3 c device, even android is newer.. why? Am I missing something to fix/do? Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Google Workspace Enterprise unlimited storage, gmail account deactivated
Depends on what you need, I have been sniffing around sync.com to back up my unraid. Will have to use a windows VM to handle the "backup". Source: over 2 years ago
  • Looking for an Affordable and Fast Cloud System (preferably with good speed in Europe)
Sync.com might be unlimited right now but I highly doubt they will keep this up in the long run. And having to reupload after a few months sucks, especially with a slow connection. Every other service so far canceled this tier, or has some major asteriscs. Storage is pretty expensive, even if you operate at a huge scale so this is simply not a viable business model. • Looking for an Affordable and Fast Cloud System (preferably with good speed in Europe)
Wait but sync.com does offer unlimited. And also Dropbox. These services are not good at all? Source: over 2 years ago
  • Request for OneDrive Files On-Demand / Dropbox Smart Sync feature in the Windows & Mac apps
What about a "Vault" type feature. If you've ever used sync.com their cloud storage has a separate vault where files are only stored in the cloud and not visible or available on the desktop app. I liked this feature as I would archive files that would I rarely if ever need but still wanted to keep them and it saved space. • Do you know some cloud storage provider with a full data rewind feature other than Dropbox and Sync.com?
Nope, don't have time to do all of this. I need full cloud restore feature, like Dropbox or sync.com, but just wonder if there is any other. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Sync white paper?
I have seen several places links to a white paper supposedly explaining sync.com's security model:. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Best Alternatives to Google Workspace Drive Unlimited? Any as cheap as hosted external HDD?
Well I dunno, my thread here revealed quite a few options for me, I will check the $36/monthly sync.com Unlimited option maybe next. If I find a way to directly transfer 38TB from Google Drive to it at max speed without me having to do it via my home internet. It's not cheap cold storage as I am looking for. But I still look for it, and who knows, eventually maybe someone will do it. I might look for options... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Is there a way to do mass uploads?
Now, most cloud services will accept photos (onedrive, dropbox, pcloud, filen, sync.com etc) but most will not allow you to create albums and lack facial recognisiton and most don't take advantage of metadata. Ente has albums (big plus) , the beginnings of face recognition (just tested it, works well!) and the metadata is probably not there yet. Source: over 2 years ago
  • All good things eventually come to an end, Google Workspace storage limit is now being enforced for my business account. Looking for suggestions.
This was my thought also, sync.com while cheaper is just not as robust for my needs. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Criticize my backup and (disaster) recovery strategy
Do the same thing with multiple (2-3?) E2EE cloud services (I'm thinking filen.io, Tresorit, sync.com, pCloud). Source: over 2 years ago
  • Can't figure out how to degoogle photos/videos
Ok everyone, I've managed to nearly degoogle my life, however the one thing I can't quite figure out is google photos. Email, calendar, contacts, docs, and everything else wasn't too hard, its photos and videos that is the hard one. I have a library of about 400gb or so when shopping around at other providers I generally need the 2tb plan. Moving to another big tech photo platform like Microsoft or whoever kind of... Other have previously experienced similar issues and the solution was to zip the file or not use sync.com e.g: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sync/comments/zylikt/cant\_move\_from\_files\_to\_vault\_using\_website/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Help picking a potential cloud storage provider
Sync.com has privacy security-first approach to cloud-storage. Sync offers zero-knowledge protection with end-to-end encryption, & 2FA. Is EU GDPR compliant. Source: over 2 years ago
  • How secure is one drive?
I have 1TB that is included in my microsoft account. I plan to use it to send photos to clients as links. However, I'm also using it for some personal files. Nothing extremely confidential, I have sync.com+cryptomator for that. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Cloud storage, I just want reliability and low price
I'm after some cloud storage, I saw some like Wasabi, B2, sync.com, IceDrive and pCloud... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Cloud & Local Backups
Sync.com does offer a "vault" which is sort of a static snapshot copy of files and you could use the vault space as more of a true backup copy. It's not automated though, last I used it I you had to go to the local folder and right click to refresh the local folder to the vault (say, once per week or month). Source: over 2 years ago
  • Cloud & Local Backups
If you accidentally damaged or deleted files, or were victim to a ransomware attack, those actions would be replicated in your cloud. You'd then be relying on sync.com's file history and rubbish bin to restore the damaged/deleted files. Source: over 2 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of Sync.com

Sync.com is consistently recognized as a robust solution in the cloud storage sector, offering a secure, user-friendly platform suitable for a wide range of users, from individuals seeking secure storage to businesses requiring reliable file sharing and collaboration capabilities. Here's a consolidated overview of the public opinion based on various recent mentions and articles.

Usability and Versatility

Sync.com is frequently highlighted for its ease of use across multiple platforms, including macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. Users appreciate the simple drag-and-drop functionality for uploading and downloading files, as well as intuitive sharing options. Despite not being the fastest service compared to some of its competitors like pCloud, its ease of setup and use remains a strong selling point. Some users have remarked on minor compatibility issues with certain devices, although these appear to be isolated cases.

Security and Privacy

A defining feature of Sync.com is its commitment to security. It offers client-side encryption and a zero-knowledge policy, meaning that only users can access their data. These features position Sync.com as a top contender for those prioritizing privacy, exceeding the security offerings of more mainstream services like Google Drive and Dropbox. End-to-end encryption and GDPR compliance further bolster its reputation in this regard.

Storage Plans and Flexibility

While Sync.com offers competitive pricing, including unlimited storage plans, it has faced skepticism regarding the sustainability of these offerings. However, the service maintains flexible options, including a "vault" feature for storing files solely in the cloud. The referral program, which allows users to earn free storage by referring others, is another attractive aspect, although some constraints, such as a cap on storage expansion, apply.

Suitability for Collaboration

Sync.com is praised for its strong collaboration features, making it an ideal choice for businesses and teams that need to share and collaborate on files regularly. It provides functionalities that rival established names like Dropbox and Google Drive, with particular acclaim for its ability to grant link-based access to shared files securely.

Performance Concerns

Despite its many advantages, Sync.com is sometimes noted for slower performance compared to services like pCloud or Mega, particularly concerning upload speeds and data synchronization. Users with slower internet connections have expressed frustration over long upload times. Nevertheless, its dedication to robust security measures might justify the trade-off in speed for many users.

Conclusion

Overall, Sync.com stands out as a comprehensive, secure, and user-friendly cloud storage solution. It is especially suitable for users valuing privacy and security above all, offering solid encryption standards that surpass many competitors and ensuring that even in shared scenarios, user data remains confidential. While there are concerns over speed and certain business model aspects, public sentiment generally favors its robust feature set and reliability. As a result, Sync.com remains a strong contender in the crowded field of cloud storage providers.
