  • streamlabs website keeps forgetting about me
When visiting streamlabs.com, I am almost always sent through the setup process despite the fact that I've been through it multiple times. I have the desktop app and have even streamed unlisted videos as tests (everything seems fine from the app) but when I go on the website it won't acknowledge my yt account. The same is also true for my other settings like tipping; my tip URL still links to the tip page, yet the... Source: about 3 years ago
  • Alerts do not work during stream on OBS, but works fine when I'm not streaming.
Nono I meant when I test out the widgets on streamlabs.com or whatever it pops up like it should on OBS or streamlabs the app for that matter, but the alerts don't pop up exclusively when I stream. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Twitch's Alerts: CSS Issues
I use a special font I purchased which is Sidefont. As I wrote it, the base64 URL I got from fontsquirrel works perfectly with streamlabs.com and streamelements alerts boxes. How can I create a shorter URL like you mentioned? Source: about 3 years ago
  • Twitch's Alerts: CSS Issues
I've got a problem with the new Twitch's Alerts feature. I can't modify the CSS code to add my own font. When I click to validate there's an error message. Yet, I use exactly the same code line with streamlabs.com as well as streamelements.com's alerts, I generated it thanks to fontsquirrel.com and it works very well. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Sponsor bar resetting issue
So I've used Streamlabs for a while now and have always ran into random issues with this but it has never really bugged me like it has recently. Ever since a few months ago when I set up my sponsor banner widget, it works perfectly for a week or two and then I go to stream and it just shows a generic "streamlabs" logo and text where my sponsors should be rotating. Upon checking the streamlabs.com dashboard where... Source: about 3 years ago
  • Need help with OBS
I'm not sure what you break by chat dock, but I can share my solution. I use StreamLabs to display chat and follow animations. They provide a URL that you add to a Browser source in OBS. Source: over 3 years ago
  • [PC] What is the best recording program to share clips on here for feedback?
If you're looking to record a long segment, like a YouTube video length, get either OBS or Streamlabs OBS. These allow you to add webcam overlays, etc etc. And for the regular OBS I'd recommend looking up a tutorial on how to set up a basic scene to record your screen, but it's straight forward enough. Streamlabs OBS comes with more overlays for streaming, if you're into that, and OBS is a bit more basic, but can... Source: over 3 years ago
  • Elgato 4k60 PRO mk 2 and Fujifilm Mirrorless = Webcam?
That setup should work for any software that can read from the 4K60 Pro. (OBS Studio and Streamlabs Desktop are both known to work.). Source: over 3 years ago
  • Can't see alerts
Whenever I launch the widget url in streamlabs.com it works just fine in that window but it doesn't show up at all in my desktop SLOBS. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Streamlabs - list of channel's commands
You can go to https://streamlabs.com/(insert streamername)/cloudbot. Source: over 3 years ago
  • [object InputEvent]
For a couple of weeks (or so) it has been impossible to type or paste in a hex code in the Event List widget on streamlabs.com. When I try, the theme color box just says "[object InputEvent]". This used to work fine, but now I have to manually guess at which colour is the closest to what I'm trying to get. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Everything You Need to Know to Become a Vtuber on a Limited Budget
There have been many streaming software options released over the years, some free, some paid, and some free with paid QoL additions. My top three recommendations are OBS Studio, Streamlabs OBS, and Xsplit. OBS Studio (https://obs-studio.org/en/index.html) has been around for many years and is really the foundation of modern streaming software. It has evolved over the years from its early functionality, but... Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Get Started Live Streaming in the Cloud with Amazon IVS
There are different ways to create channels (console, CLI, SDK) and create playback interfaces (web, native). There are also different ways to broadcast (or โ€œstreamโ€) to your channels (desktop software, mobile apps, web broadcast). Iโ€™ll show you how all of these work in future posts, but today letโ€™s get the basics out of the way by just creating a channel and streaming to it. OBS is a free and open source software used for Live Streaming. To make this possible, we'll be using OBS's "Browser Source" feature. I use Streamlabs (an abstraction over OBS) however this feature is still available in the vanilla OBS software. - Source: dev.to / about 4 years ago

Installation of this widget is relatively simple and is often a case of simply copying and pasting some code. Everything is detailed and documented on the Github repository. Summary of the public mentions of Streamlabs

Streamlabs, operating primarily within the realms of video, live streaming, and screen recording, has established itself as a notable entity in the streaming software ecosystem. Originally launched as a tool for live streaming, Streamlabs has since expanded its functionalities by integrating with OBS Studio, emerging as Streamlabs OBSโ€”offering a combination of user-friendly interfaces and streaming capabilities suitable for beginners and experienced streamers alike.

Key Features and User Experience

Streamlabs OBS is often highlighted for its simplified interface compared to the original OBS Studio. This aspect is beneficial for novice users who find the comprehensive features of OBS Studio overwhelming. It provides essential functionalities such as video recording and dissemination, integrated themes, and user support notifications. Importantly, Streamlabs OBS, like its source inspiration, offers a free version, making it accessible to a wide audience. Users appreciate its streamlined setup process and the ease of integrated features like chat displays and custom alerts, which enhance the overall streaming experience.

User Feedback and Challenges

Despite its strengths, Streamlabs has been subject to certain criticisms and technical challenges from its user community. A recurrent issue is the software's forgetfulness regarding user settings on the Streamlabs website, necessitating repeated setupsโ€”frustrations voiced by users trying to maintain consistent streaming configurations. Alerts and widgets that work on test runs sometimes fail during actual streams, causing reliability concerns among content creators.

Another user-reported complication involves the resetting of crucial settings, such as sponsor bars and alerts, to default, undermining efforts to personalize and stabilize streaming sessions. These issues prompt users to frequently verify settings before each broadcast, adding an inconvenience to what is ideally a seamless operation.

Moreover, the Streamlabs platform occasionally faces technical hitches, as noted by users encountering difficulties while using CSS for custom fonts, or experiencing errors in widget integration. These problems highlight areas where Streamlabs could benefit from enhancements to its user interface and overall system robustness.

Comparative Position in the Market

When juxtaposed with competitors like OBS Studio, StreamElements, and RESTream, Streamlabs is praised for its holistic approach. While OBS Studio is lauded for its foundational streaming architecture, Streamlabs OBS provides a turnkey solution for those less inclined to delve into complex customization, balancing ease of use with robust functionality.

Streamlabs has also influenced newer streamers to adopt its platform by offering high-value features in its free version, alongside optional premium enhancements. However, it competes in a dynamic market where user demand for customization and stability is high, and alternatives like TouchPortal and Macro Deck are becoming more appealing for those needing tailored solutions.

Conclusion

Streamlabs OBS continues to be a reputable choice among streaming software, particularly esteemed for simplifying the streaming setup process for new users. Nonetheless, the feedback reveals areas of improvement, particularly concerning reliability and persistence of user settings. As it stands, Streamlabs holds a favorable position owing to its user-friendly design and community-driven support, but its future success will depend on addressing current user frustrations and enhancing its technical stability for a more reliable streaming experience.
