I installed a Lineage OS image from osboxes.org in QEMU, and can't set up a physical keyboard. I added the desired languages in the AOSP keyboard, but no shortcut works for me. On a pure android x86 I changed the layout with Ctrl + Space, but now it won't work. In the shortcut info, the shortcut for switching input method is Search + Space, but what is that search button? Checked Alt, Ctrl, Super -> No result. It... Source: about 1 year ago
For say, over a decade now, it is possible to have a PC within a PC. Computer as a service, is an appropriate term. For example, you could download ready-made virtual PC's from OS Boxes for a lot of Linux operating systems. Granted, though, there aren't many that boast specific applications. For example, I'd love to be able to download a "developer PC" that comes with things like MySQL Workbench, SQL Server... - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago

I downloaded a version of FreeBSD from osboxes.org to give it a try in VirtualBox. Source: over 2 years ago
I always download from osboxes.org a premade image, then boot on an install cd and upgrade. It's the only way I've ever gotten OpenSUSE to work via VirtualBox. Source: over 2 years ago
I don't think you need to dual-boot any time soon, if ever. If you want to see what they're like, you can install Virtualbox (or similar) and just run it inside Windows. You can find pre-built OSes on thing like osboxes.org, which takes a lot of the hassle out of set-up/installation. About all I'd suggest for the install is to make sure to allocate as many CPU cores as possible, and don't skimp on the memory %,... Source: over 2 years ago
If running Windows software I see no reason not to run it in a VM (there's no need to activate Windows 10 to use it) so I do. Linux makes a fine VM host and if new to VMs Virtualbox is very easy to set up. Industry uses AutoCAD so your school is wise to stick to it as standard. That way you can use the current student version and get on the same page as everyone else. In the industrial world AutoCAD is like MSFT... Source: almost 3 years ago
Thanks for that - I haven't tried as I ended up just going with the download from osboxes.org in spite of the checksum mismatch. But in future I may well! Source: almost 3 years ago
I have just downloaded the 64bit VirtualBox image for Kali Linux 2021.1 from osboxes.org, to find that the sha256 checksum is incorrect. I'm also confused about file sizes. The site seems to indicate that the .vdi image is 3.8Gb, but this is in fact (at least for me), the size of the compressed .7z file, and once uncompressed, the .vdi file balloons out to about 15.3Gb. Besides networking a broad OS knowledge base can serve you well. Learning Linux and using it as your daily OS (most non-gaming Windows installs do fine in virtual machines for which Linux makes a stable host) will help your competence. Free downloadable Linux VMs abound (osboxes.org has many) so no need to install on bare metal initially. Source: about 3 years ago
