very good for backup of mobile photos

I've been using Koofr for a couple of years now. I use it because of automatic backup of my mobile photos as well as photos on my facebook and instagram. Also for backup of my PC and for sharing files. It works great.

  • The Difference Between Downloading and Streaming
At Koofr[1] one of the most requested features was an option to prevent downloading files from public links. We didn't want to lie to our users so we added a "Hide download button" option because that's the only thing you can do. You can hide the download button but you can never really prevent the download. [1] https://koofr.eu. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Need new cloud service
If you're not too far from Europe* then Koofr might come pretty close to your idea. 1TB "lifetime" 160 US$ ATM (less if you find a coupon they accept at checkout, many generic Stacksocial-Codes worked in the past). I'm a happy "lifetime" user of them, only disadvantage I discovered so far: They do not store creation date/time of folders, only of files. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Does Koofr offer zero knowledge encryption out of the box?

  • Cash payments in foreign currencies (AUD, BGN, CAD, CHF, CNY, CZK, DKK, GBP, ISK, JPY, NOK, NZD, PLN, RON, RSD, SEK, TWD, USD)
Koofr offers cloud storage that you can access over the web, with the Koofr apps, or via protocols like WebDAV or rclone โ€“ perfectly suitable for syncing or backup. Koofr works great with Cryptomator, which encrypts your data before uploading. We are an official reseller of Koofr. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Koofr needs your help

  • Best cloud storage service for backup/sync multiple mobile devices?
Have a look at Koofr Cloud Storage. But it's privacy orientated, so it won't auto backup apps and such. https://koofr.eu. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Koofr needs your help
As some of you may have noticed, Microsoft EDGE has incorrectly flagged our landing page https://koofr.eu as dangerous. We suspect it was a coordinated attack by some malicious actors, but now we cannot reach Microsoft to resolve this matter. From the posts on their forums we gathered they simply do not respond. • Where do you store your backups? What Provider if any?
Https://koofr.eu EU-based datacenters, no tracking No known cases of "sudden" account deletions (like pcloud) Relatively cheap if you buy the lifetime subscriptions. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Free Dropbox alternative which works on Linux, and allows access to the folder via the Android filesystem
Koofr enables you to connect to Dropbox (in addition to offering it's own storage solution), but don't know if it fixes your slow sync problems. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Dropbox alternatives for file storage
I used koofr.eu and liked them a lot. No bells or whistles, just storage and the various way to access it. They don't encrypt your data, but they publish guides on their page on how to use the various technologies on how to encrypt your data before uploading. They are based in the EU and adhere to GPDR including when data is said it's deleted, it's deleted. Pricing is competitive, speeds are good and they... Source: over 3 years ago
  • Cannot edit MS Office files from Koofr network drive?
MS Office files can only view (no "Edit with ###" button) in koofr.eu which I have set up as network drive (Koofr-Download) with Koofr for desktop. Source: over 3 years ago
  • What is the best cloud storage?
I've used Onedrive and dumped it, Google Drive and dumped it. I use iCloud mimimally just to sync some setitngs across devices. Haven't tried Mega or Trestorit or Koofr (https://koofr.eu/ ) Koofr is not end-to-end encrypted, but you can add that if you want with Cryptomator or Boxcryptor I believe. I believe it allows WebDav access which can be a big plus if that's a goal of yours. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Adding CDN feature so people who lives far from europe can access their file full speed, is that possible?
They already store data in the US for "koofr.net" and in EU for "koofr.eu" from my understanding. Don't think they can get much better than that, at least not at the prices they're charging. ;). Source: almost 4 years ago

Hi, does anyone have experience with koofr? Are they serious? Does the solution work? Source: over 4 years ago
  • Google Drive alternative
I made it a point to only pick providers that I can use with rclone. I landed on Koofr because their pricing was also good, they had a decent free tier, and the client works on Linux. Their app and web client are also nice, and I appreciate that their site seems to have zero trackers. Source: over 4 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of Koofr

Koofr is a relatively small but noteworthy player in the cloud storage market, drawing attention particularly in the European sector due to its strong privacy and security posture. Based out of Slovenia, Koofr ensures compliance with GDPR standards, enhancing its appeal to privacy-conscious users. The platform offers a seamless cloud storage experience with particular emphasis on security and functionality across multiple operating systems, including a specific focus on Linux compatibility.

In recent discussions about cloud storage options, Koofr is frequently recognized for its updated free storage plan, offering up to 10GB without complicated achievement or referral schemes. However, this amount may appear limited compared to its larger competitors like Google Drive or Dropbox, especially for users transitioning from these platforms or accustomed to the enhanced free offerings available elsewhere.

Koofr distinguishes itself through its robust integration capabilities, allowing users to consolidate various third-party storage accountsโ€”Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDriveโ€”within a single interface. This capability not only enhances usability but also optimizes the searchability of files across multiple platforms, a unique selling point that resonates with tech-savvy users managing multiple accounts.

Despite its strengths, Koofr faces challenges, notably perceptions of its pricing structure. It is highlighted in reviews and user discussions that transitioning from a low-cost, high-capacity service such as Google One, may initially seem daunting. Nevertheless, Koofr offers a lifetime subscription model which some users find cost-effective in the long run.

Security and privacy are recurrent themes in the commentary on Koofr, with SSL/TLS encryption providing secure file transfers, but the platform does not inherently offer end-to-end encryption. Users can, however, leverage third-party tools such as Cryptomator or Boxcryptor to encrypt their data before uploading, adding an extra layer of security. The platform also supports WebDAV and is compatible with rclone, adding to its utility for advanced users requiring customizable sync solutions.

Koofr provides additional functionalities such as expirable link sharing and content control features even for free usersโ€”a notable differentiation from competitors like Dropbox. However, the ability to prevent downloads from public links is limited, with only the option to hide the download button available, which might not meet all security expectations.

The platform has faced some external challenges, such as being incorrectly flagged as dangerous by browsers like Microsoft Edge, raising concerns about site accessibility rather than direct criticism of the service's quality.

Overall, Koofr is a strong candidate for users who prioritize privacy and security, particularly within the European market, and those who require integration across multiple storage solutions. While there are some drawbacks, especially regarding free storage limitations and pricing perceptions, Koofrโ€™s focus on security features and seamless integration make it a viable alternative for discerning users.
