Zim Wiki
Python Package IndexZim Wiki is recommended for students, writers, researchers, and professionals who want a straightforward yet powerful tool for organizing their notes and managing projects. It is particularly suited for those who prefer a local application that doesn't rely on cloud services and who appreciate the ability to work offline with an open-source solution.
Zim Wiki might be a bit more popular than Python Package Index. We know about 131 links to it since March 2021 and only 101 links to Python Package Index. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
Yeah, I'm a long time user/disciple of https://zim-wiki.org ; it was basically Obsidian but 15-20 years early. To do some of the things that are now trivially easy with Obsidian I learned scripting and such, so I'm familiar with this very weird coincidence/name collision. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
I would recommend Obsidian to new users. I've been using Zim Wiki for years; back then there was nothing better available and I now can't be bothered to migrate formats. https://obsidian.md/ https://zim-wiki.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
And for those who are only vaguely familiar, this ZIM file format is not the same as the https://zim-wiki.org one. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
I didn't know that Obsidian worked that cleanly; I occasionally flirt with it but have been using https://zim-wiki.org for about a decade longer, so my muscle memory is there. I keep looking for reasons to switch but so far nothing yet has done that? - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
Not quite shell -- but obligatory: I've been using http://zim-wiki.org for now .. decades? As my main driver for most everything in my life, including my personal and teaching website, custom template I made. jrm4.com. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
Running pip install requests triggers this sequence: 1. Resolve requests to a distribution (wheel or sdist) from the index (default: https://pypi.org). 2. Download the artifact, verify its hash if available, and extract it. 3. Execute the build backend (setuptools, poetry-core, etc.) specified in pyproject.toml or setup.py to generate metadata. 4. Copy files into site-packages/ and populate .dist-info... - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
You need two accounts: test.pypi.org for the test registry, and pypi.org for the real registry that pip install and uv add use. Use the test registry first, since it resets periodically and will not pollute the real index with test uploads. Enable two-factor authentication on both, as PyPI requires it for publishing. - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
Install CadQuery: Use pip install cadquery to get started. Refer to the Python Package Index (PyPI) for the latest installation instructions. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
Open your browser and navigate to pypi.org. - Source: dev.to / 5 months ago
How does the big white search box at https://pypi.org/ work? Why couldnโt the same technology be used to power the CLI? If thereโs an issue with abuse, I donโt think many people would mind rate limiting or mandatory authentication before search can be used. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
