A daily "always on" tool for our entirely virtual team

Desktop.com has proved to be a worthy alternative to Slack, and with more benefits to our entirely virtual small team scattered around the world. In particular, it's very easy to chat and conduct video calls and screen shares. We utilize the SSO to access all of our web apps and links that we have created among various internal desktops. As with any SaaS tool, there can be features or tweaks that I would like to see, and to that end the support is fantastic.

๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Works as advertised|Quick and easy|Great support

    Great for my business

Found it easy to use. Our business is small, and no staff sits in an office. We have configures a couple of apps for Single sign on, and will try to configure a few more. Still working our way through the features, but looks promising for our use case.

    ๐Ÿ Competitors: Slack, Microsoft Teams
๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    No download|Easy to use|Can invite external slack users|Hd video conference
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    No notification on iphone yet

    A flexible remote HQ

Desktop.com allows me to organize my apps, links and docs online in a very simple way. It also allows me to share the right assets with my coworkers without hassle. I donโ€™t know how I got by before I started using it. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to organize their digital workplace.

    ๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Intuitive|Cheap price|Super simple

  • Ask HN: What apps have you created for your own use?
Being a co-founder, I often have to wear lots of different hats and needed a way to better manage multiple identities in my browser. I tried Chrome profiles and Firefox containers, but both felt messy. Instead, I wrote my own browser called Wavebox. It started as an Electron app but after quickly finding all the limitations, dropped Electron and built directly on top of Chromium. • Feature suggestion: Add option to isolate information/cookies between sessions
Failing that have a look at https://wavebox.io/ which is a Chromium-based web browser built to support multi account logins. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Ditching Notion and ClickUp and all other All in One Tools
Just wanted to share my recent shift from using all-in-one productivity tools like Notion or ClickUp to using WaveBox, a productivity-focused browser. I am frustrating by all in one tools that suck. Or look like crap. Or don't work the way I would expect. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Why do people like Arc web browser?
I don't get it either. I use wavebox, which as far as I can tell has all the same features as Arc, as well more features. It's stable, fast and built off chromium just like Arc. Seriously, if whoever is reading this is looking for something like Arc, but without the wait to get into the beta.. Just get wavebox. Source: over 2 years ago
