Vivaldi 5 features
runZero 5 features
  • Customization
Vivaldi offers extensive customization options, allowing users to tweak the browser's appearance and functionality extensively. Users can adjust themes, modify the interface, and use custom shortcuts.
  • User Interface
The user interface is highly flexible and can be tailored to individual preferences. For instance, users can reposition tabs, split screens, and even stack tabs for better organization.
  • Privacy and Security
Vivaldi focuses on privacy, providing built-in features such as an ad blocker and tracker blocker. The browser does not track or profile its users.
  • Performance
Vivaldi is generally snappy and capable of handling a large number of open tabs without significant slowdowns. It is built on Chromium, which provides a stable and quick browsing experience.
  • Built-in Tools
Vivaldi includes a range of built-in tools like a notes manager, screen captures, and customizable web panels that improve productivity without needing extra extensions.

Possible disadvantages

  • Complexity
The plethora of customization options can be overwhelming for new users. The interface may appear cluttered compared to simpler browsers if not configured properly.
  • Resource Usage
Vivaldi can be more resource-intensive compared to other browsers due to its additional features and customization capabilities. This may lead to higher memory usage.
  • Extension Compatibility
While Vivaldi supports Chrome extensions, some may not perform as expected due to the browser's unique features and customizations.
  • Learning Curve
Users coming from more straightforward browsers might need some time to adapt to Vivaldi's extensive features and customization options.
  • Frequent Updates
While frequent updates can be seen as a positive, they could also be viewed as a nuisance to users who prefer a more stable and less frequently changing browser experience.
  • Comprehensive Asset Discovery
runZero offers thorough asset discovery, allowing organizations to identify all devices connected to their network, including unmanaged and unauthorized devices. This helps in maintaining a complete inventory and enhances security posture.
  • Easy Deployment
The platform is designed for easy deployment and can start providing insights quickly. It does not require agents or credentials to function, simplifying the integration process into existing IT environments.
  • Agentless Scanning
runZero uses agentless scanning techniques which are non-intrusive and do not require installing software on endpoint devices. This reduces the complexity and overhead associated with asset management.
  • Detailed Reporting
It provides detailed reporting features that help organizations keep track of asset information and vulnerabilities. This reporting can assist in compliance efforts and internal audits.
  • Supports Multiple Network Types
The platform is versatile and can operate across a variety of network types and structures, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. This makes it suitable for diverse IT landscapes.

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Visibility in Complex Networks
In extremely large or complex network environments, there might be challenges in maintaining complete visibility due to the sheer scale and diversity of devices and configurations.
  • Potential for Missed Devices
While comprehensive, no discovery tool is flawless. There's a possibility of some devices not being detected, particularly if they are heavily firewalled or segmented from the main network.
  • Dependency on Network Access
As an agentless solution, runZero relies on network access to perform its scans. Any limitations in network accessibility can affect the accuracy and completeness of asset discovery.
  • Initial Configuration Required
While deployment is relatively easy, there is still an initial configuration phase required to tailor the settings according to the specific needs and architecture of the organization’s network.
  • Potential Privacy Concerns
Since runZero scans the network environment, organizations need to ensure that they address any privacy concerns or regulatory requirements related to scanning and data collection within their networks.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Vivaldi and runZero.

What's the story behind your product?

runZero's answer:

runZero was founded in 2018 by HD Moore, well known in the industry as the creator of Metasploit. Over the last 25 years, HD has led penetration testing teams, helped build three successful security products, and pushed the boundaries of security research.

Throughout HD's storied career, one persistent fact stood out: organizations that care about security are still frequently compromised through assets they don’t know about. Even those who invest in mature security and IT programs still struggle to achieve full visibility into increasingly dynamic environments that endure constant change in assets, networks, and clouds. HD founded runZero to solve this problem and lay the foundation for the next generation of exposure management.

What makes your product unique?

runZero's answer:

The runZero Platform is the only total attack surface and exposure management solution that combines powerful proprietary active scanning, native passive discovery, and API integrations. Unifying these discovery approaches makes our platform unique in its ability to discover and provide accurate, detailed fingerprinting for all IT, OT, and IoT devices across on-prem, cloud, and remote environments.
