Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing UnionStack.ca and Resettle.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

UnionStack.ca's answer

UnionStack is built with C# and ASP.NET Core on .NET 10, using PostgreSQL and Entity Framework Core for data management. Supporting technologies include Redis, SignalR for real-time updates, OpenIddict for authentication, Azure Blob Storage for documents, and Docker for deployment.

Resettle's answer:

Swift, with SwiftUI and AppKit for the interface and the macOS Accessibility API to read and move other apps' windows. Updates ship through Sparkle. Payments and licensing run through Dodo Payments.

What's the story behind your product?

UnionStack.ca's answer

UnionStack addresses a practical challenge: union work spans many connected records and responsibilities. A single member may hold multiple positions, participate in a grievance, attend meetings, and exchange correspondence with several representatives. UnionStack brings that context together to make everyday administration clearer and easier to coordinate.

Resettle's answer:

macOS keeps no memory of where windows were. Unplug a monitor and it moves everything onto the laptop; plug it back in and nothing returns. A small annoyance that costs a few minutes every single time it happens. Resettle exists to take that moment away, without asking anyone to build layouts or write rules first.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

UnionStack.ca's answer

UnionStack serves labour unions, including locals, regional bodies, and larger union organizations. Its primary users are union administrators, membership staff, representatives, grievance officers, and finance teams. Members use the portal to access relevant information and services

Resettle's answer:

Anyone who uses a Mac with more than one display: a laptop that docks at a desk, a desk with an external monitor, a setup that changes through the day. In practice, developers and designers who keep ten windows arranged across two or three screens and lose that arrangement every time a monitor comes or goes.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

UnionStack.ca's answer

UnionStack is a strong fit for unions seeking membership management, grievance tracking, communications, and member self-service in one platform. Its connected records help reduce fragmented information, while configurable workflows, reporting, and audit histories support consistent administration.

Resettle's answer:

Most window managers restore from a layout you save by hand, so anything you have rearranged since comes back the way it was months ago. Snapping tools such as Rectangle and Magnet do nothing at all when a display changes. Resettle is for the moment itself: a monitor is unplugged, docked or woken, macOS piles every window onto one screen, and the arrangement you had comes back without you touching anything.

What makes your product unique?

UnionStack.ca's answer

UnionStack connects the people, organizations, agreements, and casework behind everyday union operations. Member records link to positions, grievances, meetings, and correspondence, helping staff understand the full context while respecting access permissions. Configurable structures and workflows let unions reflect their own organization and terminology.

Resettle's answer:

It learns on its own. There is no layout to build and save, which is how every other window manager works: Resettle watches where your windows sit on each display setup and puts them back when that setup returns. It remembers a minimized window too, with the frame it goes back to, and any restore can be undone.
