Typer is a free AI chat app that runs entirely on your Mac. Everything stays on your device. No cloud, no account, no ads, no subscriptions.

How it works

Download Typer from the Mac App Store. On first launch, it detects your machine's specs and downloads the right AI model for your hardware. That's it. No setup, no configuration, no sign-up. Just open it and start chatting.

All AI processing happens locally on Apple Silicon using Metal GPU acceleration. Your conversations never leave your Mac. There's nothing to log into because there's no server.

What makes it different

Most AI chat tools require an internet connection and send your data to the cloud. Typer doesn't. It works completely offline. Take it on a plane, use it on the train, chat with AI anywhere.

Typer also includes local web search. It can search the web without sending your queries to external servers. No other local AI app offers this combination of offline AI chat and private web search.

Who it's for

Anyone with an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) who wants AI chat without the complexity. You don't need to know anything about AI models or technical setup. Typer handles everything automatically.

It's also for people who are tired of running out of free tokens, seeing ads in their AI tools, or wondering what happens to their conversations. With Typer, the answer is simple: nothing leaves your Mac.

Always improving

Typer automatically updates its AI models as better ones become available. The app stays cutting edge without you having to do anything.

Completely free

No pricing tiers, no premium plan, no ads. Typer is free to download and free to use. That's not going to change.

SuperCoder features and specs

  • Automated Coding Assistance
SuperCoder leverages AI agent capabilities to automate coding tasks, potentially speeding up development workflows by handling repetitive or boilerplate coding work.
  • Built on SuperAGI Framework
As an agent template within the SuperAGI ecosystem, it benefits from the underlying framework's infrastructure, tooling, and community support for autonomous agents.
  • Customizable Template
Being a template, it provides a starting point that developers can adapt and configure for their specific coding project needs rather than building an agent from scratch.
  • Open Source Nature
SuperAGI and its agent templates are typically open source, allowing developers to inspect, modify, and extend the code to fit their specific use cases without vendor lock-in.
  • Integration Potential
Being part of a broader agent ecosystem, SuperCoder can potentially integrate with other tools, APIs, and agents within the SuperAGI platform for more complex automated workflows.

Possible disadvantages of SuperCoder

  • Learning Curve
Users unfamiliar with the SuperAGI framework or agent-based architectures may face a steep learning curve to effectively configure and use SuperCoder for their projects.
  • Limited Documentation
As a relatively newer or niche tool, documentation and community resources may be less mature compared to more established coding assistants, making troubleshooting harder.
  • Dependency on SuperAGI Ecosystem
Being tied to the SuperAGI platform means users must adopt or work within that ecosystem, which could be a constraint if they prefer standalone tools.
  • Potential Reliability Issues
AI coding agents can sometimes produce inconsistent or incorrect code suggestions, requiring careful human review and validation before deployment.
  • Setup Complexity
Configuring an autonomous coding agent template may require more technical setup (API keys, environment configuration, model access) compared to simpler code completion tools.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Typer and SuperCoder.

What's the story behind your product?

Typer's answer

In February 2026, ChatGPT started showing ads to free users and made $100 million in six weeks. That was the moment it became clear that free AI chat comes with a price - your attention, your data, or both. Typer started as a personal project: what if AI chat just ran on your Mac? No cloud, no account, no strings attached. Built solo over the past year with Tauri and Rust, designed to work the moment you open it. The goal was to make local AI as simple as opening any other app on your Mac. No terminal commands, no model configuration, no technical knowledge needed. Just ask your Mac anything.

What makes your product unique?

Typer's answer

Typer is the only AI chat app that combines fully local, on-device AI with private web search. Every other local AI tool is either completely offline or completely cloud-based. Typer bridges both - you get AI that runs on your Mac with zero internet required, but when you need it, web search works locally too without sending your queries to external servers. There's no account, no cloud, no ads, and no token limits. It auto-detects your Mac's specs and picks the right AI model for your hardware, so there's zero setup.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Typer's answer

  • Zero setup - Typer detects your hardware and picks the right AI model automatically. No configuration, no downloading models manually, no terminal commands
  • No ads - ChatGPT started showing ads to free users in February 2026. Typer will never show ads
  • No account required - most competitors need you to sign up and hand over personal data before you can use them
  • Completely free with no token limits - ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini all cap free usage. Typer doesn't
  • Works offline - take it on a plane, use it on the train. No internet needed
  • Private by design - conversations never leave your Mac. There's no server to send data to
  • Web search that stays private - when you do need the web, Typer searches without sending queries to external servers. No other local AI tool does this

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Typer's answer

Mac users who want AI chat without the complexity. People who use ChatGPT but are tired of token limits, ads, and handing over their data. They don't care about model names or benchmarks - they just want to ask their Mac a question and get a good answer. Privacy-conscious users who don't want their conversations stored on someone else's server. People who travel or work offline and need AI that works without internet. Anyone with an Apple Silicon Mac who wants a simple, free, private AI assistant.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Typer's answer

  • Tauri v2 - native desktop framework, no Electron bloat
  • Rust - backend and core application logic
  • llama.cpp - local LLM inference engine via llama-cpp-rs bindings
  • Apple Metal - GPU acceleration on Apple Silicon for fast AI processing
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript - lightweight frontend with no framework
  • ChaCha20-Poly1305 - encryption for locally stored conversations

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Typer's answer

Typer is a free consumer app, not an enterprise product. It doesn't have "customers" in the traditional sense. Its users are individual Mac owners who want private, local AI chat without accounts or subscriptions.
