Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing StackGo and Turbobulls.

What makes your product unique?

Turbobulls's answer:

Two things. It tracks investments and spending in the same place, so the numbers that need both sides actually work: real net worth, savings rate, how many months of expenses your cash covers, and how far you are from your expenses being paid by your assets alone. Portfolio trackers do not know what you spend; budgeting apps do not know what you hold.

And your data is encrypted in your browser before it is sent, so the server only ever holds ciphertext. That is architecture, not a policy: you can confirm it yourself in about a minute by opening DevTools and watching a transaction save.

You do not need a finance background. The hard maths is done for you, every figure explains itself where it appears, and the headline view is plain: what you own, what you spend, and whether that is going in the right direction.

What's the story behind your product?

Turbobulls's answer:

We were tracking portfolios across several brokers in spreadsheets and kept hitting the same two problems. The returns were wrong in ways that happened to flatter us, and every tool that fixed that wanted a fully readable copy of our financial life.

So we built one where the maths is honest and the server holds nothing it can read. Then we kept going, because the investing half on its own was never the whole picture - what you spend decides as much as what you hold.

The other thing we wanted was for none of it to require a finance degree. Every number in the app explains itself, because a metric you do not understand is not information.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Turbobulls's answer:

Most tools in this category assume you already speak the language. Turbobulls does not. Every metric comes with a plain-English explanation where it appears, so you get the benefit of proper analytics without needing to know what any of it is called first.

It also holds both halves of the picture. If you use a portfolio tracker and a budgeting app, you are keeping two half-pictures and reconciling them by hand.

On the investing side the maths is done properly: money-weighted and time-weighted return side by side, dividends net of withholding tax, and capital gain reported separately from what the exchange rate did to you. The honest caveat: imports are files, not live broker connections. If you want automatic broker sync, other tools do that and we do not.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Turbobulls's answer:

Anyone who wants a clear picture of their own money, whether that is one broker and a current account or six brokers across four currencies. No finance background is needed: every metric explains itself in place and links to a plain-English guide, and the main view answers what you own, what you spend, and whether it is improving.

In practice most users are in Europe, hold a few ETFs and some individual stocks across more than one broker, and got tired of a spreadsheet that could not tell them what their return actually was.
