I have a custom AWS stack paired with cloudflare. If I were just starting off I would use something like spinupwp which can give you something similar with a nginx/fastcgi setup which is what you want. Then run your dns through cloudflare to take advantage or their proxy/security/performance features. You will not need any "performance" plugins this way which are all heavy and garbage. If you want to go super cheap, Blogger is still free (owned by Google now) and I think they allow a custom CNAME so you can attach it to your domain. ---------- Wordpress (in the cloud) doesn't require setup, since it's all hosted for you.
