I replaced Raycast recently with Sol[0], but SuperCmd[1] is also really good. And Iโm testing Helium Browser[2]. Itโs based on Chromium, but has changed a lot and Iโve been daily driving it. Also replacing CapCut with OpenCut[3]. Iโve also completely ditched Codex CLI with Pi[4] and now am trying OMP[5]. 0. https://github.com/ospfranco/sol 1. https://github.com/SuperCmdLabs/SuperCmd 2.... - Source: Hacker News / 10 days ago
It's becoming clearer and clearer that open-source is our only hope against enshittification. Everything that is VC backed will become enshittified, it's just a matter of time. At least with open-source, you can fork it and remove the "features" or point your agent to it and have it write the feature in your tech stack. Hell, I just saw an amazing open-source alternative to Raycast[0] and just replaced it the... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
Yes, via react-native-macos you can make your existing react-native apps work on macos as native desktop apps - or just build a new desktop app directly with it, such as https://github.com/ospfranco/sol. Source: about 3 years ago
Another one https://github.com/ospfranco/sol. For both of them, success hinges on plugins and a nice, native UI. Source: over 3 years ago

I experience time drift with devices not connected to NTP like cheap stopwatch/microwave clock/etc, but my all my devices connected to NTP stay synced on their own. For example: - my Windows time settings says: "Last successful time synchronization: 3/7/2024..." (This ~41 hours ago and not manually triggered.) - https://time.is/: "Your clock is 0.4 seconds ahead." I'm a little surprised there is a 0.4 second... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
It's my first quartz watch and I love it to bits! Made me realize that the accuracy of a quartz movement is no joke. I knew nothing much about watches until I started this hobby back in September, and I've still got lots to learn! But from the little I've learned so far, lots of videos say how accurate quartz is, but I didn't realize how accurate it was until I was cleaning some of my mechanical watches. Seikos, a... Was wondering, because I put my mechanical watch and digital correct to the second via time.is , how people years ago had to correct time differences? Source: over 2 years ago
I just tested it against https://time.is on my cell phone (using wifi calling because network strength is abysmal where I live). I don't have a precise measurement but it was imperceptibly close, within 100ms probably. Certainly close enough to set a clock for non critical purposes. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
