  I just tested it against https://time.is on my cell phone (using wifi calling because network strength is abysmal where I live).   It was working fine for a week after I set them up, then this weekend it stopped working. They are all powered by energy extractors, not solar. One of the bases has a battery and it's 100% full always. I checked my clock using https://time.is and it was 1 minute behind, but I don't think a difference of that much would affect anything.   You hit the problem exactly. My point is that correct, accurate time is in the air everywhere for devices to lock to accurate time. If it's a camera or sound recorder that's called "professional" locking to correct time (with provision to tell you it is not correct) should be the default.
