InnerZero is a free, private AI assistant that runs entirely on your own PC.

It uses open-source AI models on your hardware, so by default nothing leaves your machine. No cloud, no account, no telemetry, no tracking. Just you and your AI.

What you get

  • Private chat by text or voice. All processing happens locally. Audio never leaves your PC.
  • A personal memory. Zero remembers your preferences, facts, and context across sessions, stored locally.
  • 30+ built-in tools. Web search, document Q&A (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, and more), calculator, file operations in a sandboxed folder, calendar, timers, notes, and system info.
  • Offline knowledge packs. Built-in reference articles the AI cross-checks against to reduce hallucinations.
  • Coding and automation specialists. Dedicated agents that handle code and routine tasks, with approval gates before any change.
  • Proactive briefings. Optional daily summaries and reminders, off by default.

Privacy first, cloud optional

InnerZero works fully offline. If you choose to enable cloud models, only your current message and a short context window are sent. Your memory, full history, and files are never sent. You can also bring your own API keys for providers like DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, with zero markup, going straight from your device to the provider.

Free to download

The desktop app is free, with no trial and no account required. Optional paid plans cover managed cloud access, and a business licence is available for commercial use.

Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Built in the UK by Summers Solutions Ltd.

Your AI. Your machine. Your data.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Simplenote and InnerZero.

What makes your product unique?

InnerZero's answer:

InnerZero runs entirely on your own PC. It uses open-source AI models on your hardware, so by default nothing leaves your machine. No cloud, no account, no telemetry, no tracking. You get private text and voice chat, a personal memory that remembers across sessions, 30+ built-in tools, document Q&A, and offline knowledge packs, all working without an internet connection. Cloud models are available but strictly opt-in, and even then only the current message and a short context window are sent, never your memory, history, or files. It is the privacy-first alternative to cloud assistants, built so your AI works for you, on your machine, with your data staying with you.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

InnerZero's answer:

Most assistants send your prompts, documents, and personal context to overseas servers. InnerZero keeps that on your computer by default. It is free to download with no account and no trial, works fully offline, and auto-detects your hardware on first launch to pick a model that fits your machine. If you want frontier models, you can bring your own API keys with zero markup, so requests go straight from your device to the provider. It is UK-built and transparent about exactly what is sent and when. You get the privacy of local AI with the option of cloud power only when you choose it.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

InnerZero's answer:

People who want a capable AI assistant without giving up their privacy. That includes privacy-conscious individuals, developers who need their code to stay on disk, writers and researchers handling sensitive material, students who want a free offline study tool, and anyone working in low-connectivity or air-gapped settings such as travel or fieldwork. It also suits small businesses and freelancers who need local AI for client-facing work under a business licence.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

InnerZero's answer:

InnerZero is an early-stage product with a growing community of individual users across Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus an active Discord community.

What's the story behind your product?

InnerZero's answer:

InnerZero is built by Summers Solutions Ltd, a UK company founded in 2025 by Louie Summers. The starting belief was simple: AI should be personal and private. Cloud assistants made people hand over their prompts, files, and context to large overseas companies just to get useful help. InnerZero was created to flip that, putting a genuinely capable assistant on the user's own machine, with their data staying with them by default. It is developed in the UK and shipped free to download on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

InnerZero's answer:

The desktop app is built in Python with a PyWebView interface. Local AI inference runs through Ollama by default, with LM Studio as an alternative backend, both serving open-source models on the user's own hardware. Speech recognition runs locally, and offline text-to-speech is handled by Kokoro. Optional cloud access connects to providers such as DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others. The website runs on Next.js, hosted on Vercel, with Supabase for accounts and Stripe for payments.

Simplenote Reviews

  1. Basic

I've started with Simplenote years ago, at the time I was happy but it became clear pretty quickly that it was too basic. But to be fair, it's basic and free. Keep in mind it's unencrypted.

๐Ÿ Competitors: PrivacyNotes, Standard Notes, Joplin
  2. Exceptional for what its doing

Was looking for an alternative for OneNote, so I found it here. I like how simple the interface is and the UI is very simple. It's good for what it is, but there is no sorting/topic system which makes it difficult to find specific notes for specific topics. Other than that, it's a good note system.

    ๐Ÿ Competitors: OneNote, Evernote
    ๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Lots of functionalities|Easy user interface|Easy to use|Simple
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    No groups for notes|No sorting notes

  • Ask HN: What will the WordPress meltdown mean for Automattic's other products?
I've been looking to migrate away from https://simplenote.com to something else and I've been dragging my feet. However, what's happened in the past 2 weeks with the CEO was the push I needed to resume looking for another solution. I've landed on Obsidian.md. I actually prefer Simplenote over Obisidian, because Simplenote feels smoother and the online web app is great, but I've decided that having more control... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Ask HN: What note taking app do you use and why?
I use https://simplenote.com - Syncs across multiple platforms. - Plaintext based (with MD support). - Search + edit UI similar to https://notational.net and https://brettterpstra.com/projects/nvalt - Simple to publish/share notes - Free (as in beer and speech) --- If I used MacOS or there were web versions, I would love to use the following (they are all better at plaintext than SimpleNote): -... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Anybody have problems with bookmark organization like me?
Bookmarks serve two purposes: - Quick access to commonly used links. For this, I built https://multi-launch.leftium.com - Saving a link for future reference. Often I want to also save plain text notes for future reference, so find myself using https://simplenote.com I have also used https://www.bkmks.com to save links. I'm working on an app that will help save and organize everything: bookmarks, notes, and tasks. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago

  • Show HN: I built a note-taking app integrated with calendar and to-do list
Https://noteplan.co is a very similar app. Unfortunately I couldn't use it because it was limited to iOS devices (a web version is in development). - One thing missing in craftnote is search. That is a must-have feature for me. - I also like being able to publicly share notes with a (short) URL. See https://simplenote.com for an example of how this is done.
