SimpleLogin is an open-source email alias solution that allows you to protect your email via "email alias": just use alias instead of email address everywhere. Emails sent to an alias are forwarded to your mailbox. If you want to reply, just hit "reply" and the reply will come from your alias, keeping your personal email hidden. SimpleLogin eM ClientWorks great. I've been a premium subscriber for a while and everything works well. New features are released frequently.
SimpleLogin is the best email alias service. Having used it for several months now, for both my personal and pro emails and everything just works.
The team is very reactive and new features are constantly released. They are also transparent about how emails are handled.
Open source and can be self-hosted, I guess we cannot ask more from an email service.

Simple Login (SL), Addy (AD), and DuckDuckGo Email Protection (DDG) are the 3 alias email services I use. Both SL and AD can send and receive. DDG only receives. Totally agree on the security risk. On the other hand setting up, maintaining and explaining PGP for non-technical users usually leads to not using encryption at all, which is by far less secure than a self-managed PGP gateway on a private mail server setup.
