Also, if you're also trying to use Xtra email in Microsoft Outlook, also expect problems. Outlook is also crap. There are other email application options. Em Client (emclient.com) is an excellent alternative to Outlook. Source: about 2 years ago
Totally agree on the security risk. On the other hand setting up, maintaining and explaining PGP for non-technical users usually leads to not using encryption at all, which is by far less secure than a self-managed PGP gateway on a private mail server setup. I'm aware of the few UX friendly implementations like eM client or pEp, but even those are for most not easy or "automatic" to use. (especially without good... Source: over 3 years ago

eM Client has garnered a mixed yet generally favorable public opinion, positioning itself as a competent alternative to more established email clients like Microsoft Outlook and Thunderbird. Targeting users who manage multiple email accounts, eM Client offers a streamlined interface that enhances productivity through features like the Sidebar view. This professional summary seeks to objectively present the nuanced perspectives as reflected in recent discussions and product mentions.
User Interface and Usability: A notable advantage of eM Client is its user-friendly interface. The application has been commended for its modern, clutter-free design that simplifies the management of emails, calendars, contacts, and tasks. By providing capabilities like customizable tags, folders, and flags, eM Client helps users organize their communication effectively.
Integration and Features: Another point of attraction is its integration capabilities. eM Client seamlessly syncs emails, calendars, and contacts, making it a strong contender against Outlook, especially where features like AirSync (ActiveSync) are required. Its search functionalities surpass those of Thunderbird by allowing deeper folder-specific searches, thereby offering users an enriched experience in email management.
Cross-Platform Compatibility: The software supports both Windows and Mac platforms, increasing its accessibility across different user bases. Its easy setup processโrequiring simply theme selection and email inputโmakes it appealing to both tech-savvy users and novices.
Encryption and Security: While not leading in encryption technology, eM Client addresses basic security needs with built-in email encryption and spam filtering. It's perceived as having a relatively straightforward PGP implementation, which, despite not being automatic, is still a step forward for those concerned with securing their communications.
Limited Mobile Support: One common critique is the absence of a fully developed mobile app, although iOS and Android versions are reportedly in beta testing. This gap may be a deterrent for users needing seamless cross-device email management.
Free Version Limitations: While eM Client offers a free version, it comes with limitationsโmost notably, restriction to two email addresses and limited customer support primarily provided through user forums. These constraints might not satisfy individuals or businesses requiring more expansive usage without an investment in its pro version.
Competitive Landscape: Despite its strengths, eM Client faces intense competition from both traditional and emerging email clients like Mailbird and Spark Mail. Some users, while acknowledging its advantages, express loyalty to competitors who might offer more polished features or better mobile support.
eM Client stands as a versatile and efficient choice, especially for users seeking a capable alternative to Outlook and Thunderbird, with strengths notably in desktop usage and interface design. Nonetheless, the full potential of its mobile applications remains to be seen, which could further augment its standing in the email client ecosystem.
