Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing ShrimpTank.app and GitHub.

What makes your product unique?

ShrimpTank.app's answer

Shrimp Tank is built specifically for freshwater shrimp keepers, not general aquarium owners. It combines tank history, water parameter tracking, care tasks, colony notes, shrimplet observations, insights, emergency checks, and practical tools like TDS and water calculators in one focused aquarium care app.

What's the story behind your product?

ShrimpTank.app's answer

Shrimp Tank started as an app my wife and I built for our own shrimp room with 15 aquariums. We wanted a better way to follow water parameters, care routines, observations, shrimplets, and tank history without relying on scattered notes, photos, spreadsheets, and memory. As the app grew, we realized other shrimp keepers might find it useful too.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ShrimpTank.app's answer

Shrimp Tank is a focused alternative to generic aquarium logs, calculators, spreadsheets, and task apps. It is built for Neocaridina and Caridina keepers, so users can track what changed in each tank over time and connect water values, care routines, observations, and problems in one place. Gaining valuable insights along the way.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ShrimpTank.app's answer

Shrimp Tank is for freshwater shrimp keepers, especially people keeping Neocaridina and Caridina shrimp. It is useful for hobbyists with one tank, breeders with multiple tanks, and shrimp room owners who want better records for water values, care routines, breeding activity, shrimplets, deaths, molts, and colony changes.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ShrimpTank.app's answer

Shrimp Tank is built as a mobile-first aquarium care app with a modern web/PWA stack using React, TypeScript, Vite, Supabase, PostgreSQL, and Tailwind CSS. It is designed to work well across mobile and desktop, with installable PWA support for users who want an app-like experience.
