FlorisBoardSharpKeys is recommended for Windows users who need to customize their keyboard layout, such as programmers, writers, or anyone who frequently uses specific key combinations. It is also suitable for users who want to disable keys that are accidentally pressed often, such as Caps Lock or Insert, as well as those who want to swap keys for ergonomic reasons or due to a damaged key on their keyboard.
FlorisBoard is recommended for privacy-conscious users, open-source enthusiasts, and those who want a customizable keyboard experience on their Android devices. It is also suitable for users who prefer supporting community-driven software projects.
FlorisBoard might be a bit more popular than SharpKeys. We know about 56 links to it since March 2021 and only 53 links to SharpKeys. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
You can remap the keys so that "Special: Power" key button does nothing.. Or even to the original function (on my keyboard it would mean Volume Down would be F12 instead). One Windows software to do that: https://github.com/randyrants/sharpkeys / https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/xpffcg7m673d4f?hl=en-US On Linux, heck it's Linux, for sure it's doable. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago
I don't like using my mouse while drawing and I couldn't find how to do this anywhere, but luckily when I was about to give up I achieved it! So, for this you'll need a program called SharpKeys. You can download it here: https://github.com/randyrants/sharpkeys/. Source: over 2 years ago
Sharpkeys can swap keys, the readme says as much: > Things that SharpKeys will do: > ... > Allow you to swap two keys with each other - e.g. You can swap Left Windows with Left Control and vice versa I do have a vague recollection of Sharpkeys previously saying that it couldnโt, but that I tried and it worked. Long time since I last used Windows though. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
> Total commander isnโt FOSS. I'm aware of that. There are lots of FOSS equivalents, though. Including, I believe, on Windows. Wikipedia lists 23 of which I think -- haven't checked -- the majority are FOSS. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_manager#Orthodox_file_managers > Ironically windows 11 canโt do vertical taskbars. True. Easily fixed with Explorer Patcher, though. Which, ironically, is FOSS. > And... - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago

I'm quite happy with FlorisBoard, though initial configuration was a bit annoying. https://github.com/florisboard/florisboard. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
I didn't last long with the stock keyboard before installing AnySoftKeyboard which is one of the few FOSS alternative with support for swipe typing. The experience was... OK. It felt slow and it's accuracy left a lot to be desired. I still had to be slow and pretty accurate, so it didn't really feel like much of a change from the stock experience. FlorisBoard have also introduced their own implementation but the... - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
Keyboard โ OpenBoard (OpenBoard Upadted Fork, FlorisBoard when the v4 will be released...). Source: almost 3 years ago
The Github code repository (https://github.com/florisboard/florisboard) had an update on February 24, so the app is not abandoned. It reads like they plan a massive update for the next version, and word suggestions will be available. Source: about 3 years ago
I tested two: AnySoftKeyboard, it's stable and works even on very old devices, but it lacks modern features and the settings are really ugly and confusing (but once you look at all of them, you'll be able to make the keyboard the way you like it, is very customizable). And I also tested FlorisBoard, it's modern, beautiful, but it's a work in progress currently in early-beta stage and it has many incomplete or... Source: about 3 years ago
