Sounds like the lesson learned is using the right tool for the job -- reusing Kubernetes in an existing cluster to spin up sandboxes is a fair initial path to start offering the service. But Kubernetes likely isn't meant for rapid churn of workloads, here sandboxes. The architecture to me seemed very similar to SeaweedFS [1] (Facebook Haystack [2]) except with an extra layer for sandbox-hosting nodes. Like... - Source: Hacker News / 11 days ago
All examples in this guide use an in-cluster SeaweedFS instance as the pgBackRest S3 repository. SeaweedFS is Apache-2.0 licensed, actively maintained, and a clean drop-in replacement for the role MinIO used to fill in this stack. Any other S3-compatible storage works just as well: AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage (via HMAC keys), Ceph RadosGW, Cloudflare R2, and so on. For non-SeaweedFS endpoints, remove... - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
How does s4 compare to for example: https://github.com/seaweedfs/seaweedfs? - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
I'm thinking maybe SeaweedFS [0, 2] or Versity Gatweway [1, 3]. Seems there are other options, too: RustFS [4], Garage [5]. There is https://github.com/seaweedfs/seaweedfs I haver not used it but will be likely a good minion alternative for people who want to run a server and don't use minio just as s3 client. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
First, remote dev environments became table stakes. GitHub Codespaces, Gitpod, and self-hosted dev containers became how serious teams worked. Every engineer I know who ships to production now SSHs into a box they didn't provision, edits files with whatever editor is installed, and commits from a terminal. An IDE-bound agent requires you to also forward your IDE to the remote box, which most people don't bother... - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
