My 2c from lots of remote math tutoring, and one coding-for-fun middle school student: - student motivation is everything. Hard to motivate thru a screen and with cameras off. Custom template icons are not really possible. The icons are actually a graphical font, not images like .png, and this font is modified by reMarkable and embedded within the Xochitl binary. It is technically possible to replace it, but you would have to ensure its new length is fewer than its original bytes.
