In practice yes. Lots of people developing and using third party clients. That argument would hold more power if there wasn't an existing native client for Slack and Discord, made by one person, with all the features I needed, working with absolutely no lag and minimal resource use, working on MacOS, Linux, Windows. Alternatives were Rows and Airtable. Rows tends to be better at calculation, while Airtable tends to be better at storing and sorting data as a database. I was not aware of the open-source alternative called Baserow at the time. [Baserow], [APITable], [Grist], and [Rowy] are all open source Airtable alternatives which offer hosted SaaS versions that include API access, though it's a bit difficult to compare the API rate limits across all these products. Self-hosting an app like this would allow you to bypass API rate limits altogether, if you're open to it.
