I have always been worried abou the fact that my photos were not stored on the cloud privately. Meaning anyone with the access to the server could see my photos. I am glad that I found ente. It's end to end encrypted
Python Package Index might be a bit more popular than ente. We know about 101 links to it since March 2021 and only 88 links to ente. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
Running pip install requests triggers this sequence: 1. Resolve requests to a distribution (wheel or sdist) from the index (default: https://pypi.org). 2. Download the artifact, verify its hash if available, and extract it. 3. Execute the build backend (setuptools, poetry-core, etc.) specified in pyproject.toml or setup.py to generate metadata. 4. You need two accounts: test.pypi.org for the test registry, and pypi.org for the real registry that pip install and uv add use. Use the test registry first, since it resets periodically and will not pollute the real index with test uploads. How does the big white search box at https://pypi.org/ work? Why couldn’t the same technology be used to power the CLI? If there’s an issue with abuse, I don’t think many people would mind rate limiting or mandatory authentication before search can be used. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
I use Ente photos [0] without logging in, just as a local gallery. Since their backup solution is E2EE, it does everything on-device – face/object search, map view, memories [0] https://ente.com. - Source: Hacker News / 25 days ago
You can use https://ente.com/ (it's open-source). It also makes the seemingly much better decision of storing photos in S3. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
Perhaps try https://ente.com/, as they offer a paid plan. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
> None of the self hosted apps are designed with e2e encryption in mind https://ente.com is open source, and self hosted, and end to end encrypted. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
^ is what I used to import ~300gb of photos from Google Photos to Immich. Not sure how well it works for iCloud. There is also https://ente.io/ which is a private & secure photo backup app that you don't need to self-host. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
