We needed a way to manage contractor payments and documentation without drowning in compliance questions every month.

Our team is spread across eight countries, and the old process took too much time. Now contractors self-onboard, KYC runs automatically, invoices generate themselves, and payouts move much faster than before. That alone removed a lot of back and forth.

Pricing is fair and usage-based, which also helps when team volume changes. The interface took one cycle to learn, but daily use is smooth now.

A strong fit for contractor-focused startups and great Deel alternative

Onboarding was straightforward, the legal setup was much easier to manage than our previous process, and payouts have been consistently on time for us. It does a focused job, but it does that job very well.

๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    If you mainly hire independent contractors and do not need a large hr suite built around full-time employee benefits, 4dev can be a much better fit. for our contractor-only setup, the billing model was simple: a transaction-based fee, with no subscription costs for empty seats. the invoice generation and exports were also structured well enough to save our finance team a lot of time during our last audit review.
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    It does not offer full-scale eor features for permanent local employees. if you need to manage local health insurance, pensions, or similar employee-benefit workflows, this probably is not the right tool.

Switched mid-audit and did not regret it

I spent most of those 48h reformatting spreadsheets and writing an explanatory email about why three different payment methods showed up in the same period.

We moved to 4dev two months after that. When the same investor came back with a follow-up data request eight months later, I exported everything in about twelve minutes. No explanatory emails attached. Same documentation standard across all contractors, all countries, and the whole period.

Overall: It solved the exact problem we had. Honestly, we should have moved sooner.

๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Our series a investor once asked for a full payroll export covering 6 months - with just 48h notice. at that point, we were running a mix of wire transfers, wise, and one contractor was getting paid via paypal because his bank situation was complicated. not ideal, right?
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    If you have a multi-level approval workflow, the role settings may feel a bit limiting. we adjusted our internal process around it โ€” it works, just not as elegantly as iโ€™d like.
