Open source is rarely free as in free beer. Many have a non-commercial use clause GPL-like licenses, Patent liabilities, and if you are a business you pay per seat for the current compiled binary install/support. Also, I didn't see it mentioned, but if it's environments that you are mostly after, one possible solution is to use HDRIs for the background. Obviously those are more limiting than a proper 3D environment but might be good if you are just doing static, one-off shots. As for rule 2 compliance, you may recall from the last post, I textured the duck with an image from unsplash. I used a terrain texture from polyhaven.com (was texturehaven.com back when I downloaded it.) I honestly cannot remember which tool I got the heightmap from, it was so long ago. Ive done a number of these sets ups and there should be software to break up the comp for you. The workflow ive used the past is make one 4k comp and then send it thru https://madmapper.com or similar. If you HAVE to do it the way you describe check out render region of interest.
