  • I like DAZ3D but there are absolutely no models or assets for me.
Also, I didn't see it mentioned, but if it's environments that you are mostly after, one possible solution is to use HDRIs for the background. Obviously those are more limiting than a proper 3D environment but might be good if you are just doing static, one-off shots. You can get free ones of those from https://polyhaven.com and https://hdri-haven.com. Source: 11 months ago
  • Hello blender, i am trying to put together a group to create a videogame.
Https://polyhaven.com Polyhaven has free textures, models, and HDRIs. Source: 11 months ago
  • Reconnaissance Mission
As for rule 2 compliance, you may recall from the last post, I textured the duck with an image from unsplash. I used a terrain texture from polyhaven.com (was texturehaven.com back when I downloaded it.) I honestly cannot remember which tool I got the heightmap from, it was so long ago. But google terrain height map generator or some variant on that, I think there's like openGIS is one of them, and like,... Source: 12 months ago
  • Waiting for the warm days
Huge shoutout to polyhaven.com their Material/Model Collection was a huge timesaver. Source: 12 months ago
  • ALL HAIL KING DUCK
As per rule 2: I used a picture from unsplash to texture the duck. I used wood textures from polyhaven.com for the boat. All the modeling done in blender. Source: 12 months ago
  • Ive been building a library of 20k aerial perspective spherical HDRIs. Just released the first 6 to artstation.
Why not just grab free ones from https://polyhaven.com/. Source: 12 months ago
  • UNRECORD style controller made in 1 hour in Godot 4
Nice work! This with some assets from something like https://polyhaven.com/ would probably look as good as the original! Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why the color shift. my original material is dark grey as seen( material preview), shifts to a light grey in cycles.
My advice is to look up a blender HDRI tutorial and load a few. Polyhaven (is a free website that offers alot of them free and no registration needed). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Testing out the new Hair Nodes!
Also need to shout-out Polyhaven for the plant, cup and foreground camera (which you can't really see) assets! Source: about 1 year ago
  • Terminal Velocity Objects For NR2003 Part 1
Meant to be animated, which is why it’s in three separate 3dos or poses. Did not have the texture graymarb so I used a texture from polyhaven.com. So credit goes to them. Source: about 1 year ago
  • My render lighting is blown out
You’ll probably want to use a HDRI background for natural* ambient lighting, which also gives you Things To Reflect. Go to your world pane (or switch to “World” in the shader editor from the dropdown that says “Object”), connect an Environment texture to your world color and load a HDR image (Polyhaven, among others is a good source for realistic ones). • Initial results of my AI image to height map converter (more info in the comments)
For the training/validation dataset I'm using textures from polyhaven.com and ambientcg.com. This dataset of 680GB is then preprocessed to about 500.000 smaller images which are random crops of the initial 8k textures (=80GB). Training took about a day with an RTX 4070ti, but it yields good results after just an hour as well. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How would someone make this bark? What is the right node setup?
There's lots of great free texture sites! Off the top of my head polyhaven.com textures.com. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Lego X-Wing Taking Off
This is a short animation of a Lego Star Wars X-Wing taking off. I built the models using LeoCAD, and then exported them from there into Blender 3.4. The Lego material was made by me (you can download it here). Textures are from AmbientCG, and the HDRI is from Poly Haven. This render was my first time using Natron for some compositing. The animation was rendered at 1080p with 1024 samples. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why do my render suck? (Sky & Lightning problems)
2 - Best would be having an hdri of the place where the picture is taken and lighting your scene with that. Second best if that's not available is trying to find a similar hdri (there are some great free resources like polyhaven). Third would be recreating the lighting like you did. I'd start with a physical sky and add lights where you need them. But that way is quite the husstle in my experience. Source: about 1 year ago
  • [UPDATE] Hi! I made the Knight Bus from Harry Potter in Maya! (Constructive critisism is much appreciated!)
For high quality free HDRI - take a look at https://polyhaven.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Horizon 2D+3D Combination Tutorial AKA 2D/3D Horizon Extra Tips v1 Part I By MeandMe
Due to the recent release of skies on https://hdrihaven.com/, AKA https://polyhaven.com/ it is now possible to actually have both the NR2003 or GPL type ground and a custom sky above it. But until the most obscure lighting method used in Rainbow road and Inferno Pool is found out, you’re going to have to use them on a night track to create day or a different night track. Still good though. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I made a TV commercial using Blender
And, yes, it's free! The amount of free resources, including YouTube tutorials, is staggering too. And if you need general free resources while you learn Blender there are hundreds of high quality HDRIs and textures at Poly Haven or ambientCG. There are also a lot of high quality addons, both free and paid, that can greatly enhance your experience. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Textures
If you’re talking PBR materials and such, there are plenty of free sites like AmbientCG, CGBookcase, Textures.com, Poly Haven etc. Source: over 1 year ago
  • learned a lot whilest making this render. However there is a lot to improve here so feedback is greatly appreciated.
If you don't already know, you can get almost infinite ammount of HDRI and PBR Textures for free (CC) at https://polyhaven.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Practicing renders and environment
Everything except the landscape picture is stock Fusion360, but I can recommend poliigon or polyhaven. Source: over 1 year ago
