As researchers and avid readers, we found ourselves spending hours manually copying and pasting highlighted quotes and comments from PDF textbooks and research papers into our note-taking apps. Existing cloud-based tools either required expensive monthly subscriptions or forced us to upload confidential PDFs to external servers, violating our data privacy requirements. We decided to build a lightweight, browser-local, WebAssembly-powered tool that solves this friction instantly with zero security risks.

Gnome's Papers and, of course, KDE's Okular sign PDF without a hassle. If you need to edit PDFs, too, MasterPDF [1] is a solid choice. Not quite PDF X-Change in power or Acrobat Pro in looks it is sufficient for daily tasks. The real obstacle is bad support for Linux by the card reader vendors, as usual. Foxit: If only doing comments and basic stuff, use Foxit Reader. They have a linux version, been using it for years, it's pretty good. Have you tried Master PDF? It's on Flathub too. If you need the editing features, use masterpdf4 (also on AUR). I usually install masterpdf5 via Flathub for convenience if I don't need to do major edits, and use masterpdf4 for major edits only (installing masterpdf5 on Flathub meant the two versions doesn't interfere with each other's settings).
