Padlet was originally called Wallwisher. It was a tool to create walls to make birthday wishes.
Coming from a video editing background, Descript might take some getting used to. But once you figure it out, it speeds up your editing (especially interviews/long-form voiceover). The captions are very nice to work with, but a bit limited in terms of styles. There are a lot more caption styles, transitions, and effects in CapCut, but Descript excels in simplicity and speed.
The saved layouts (you can make your own) are very good if you want to create a bunch of videos on different topics with the same design scheme or branding.
Padlet might be a bit more popular than Descript. We know about 14 links to it since March 2021 and only 12 links to Descript. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.

We've used Padlet in the past but switched to Menti a year ago or so. There are many other tools, and most have an export feature, which allows you to download the data in a format readable by Excel. In Excel, we code each comment according to the categories covered by our in-house course survey: content, facilitation, duration, pacing, venue, materials, learning, relevance, satisfaction, and likelihood to recommend. For transcripts, I use Descript. Descript is able to identify all four of our panel members, and I usually spend an hour or so cleaning it up and setting the transcript into a video for YouTube. Source: about 3 years ago
