Overcast DescriptComing from a video editing background, Descript might take some getting used to. But once you figure it out, it speeds up your editing (especially interviews/long-form voiceover). The captions are very nice to work with, but a bit limited in terms of styles. There are a lot more caption styles, transitions, and effects in CapCut, but Descript excels in simplicity and speed.
The saved layouts (you can make your own) are very good if you want to create a bunch of videos on different topics with the same design scheme or branding.

I frequently find myself wanting to share information surfaced in a podcast, usually a 1 - 3 minute bit from an episode. I'm not naive enough to think friends or random people on the internet will sit through the hour I just sat through, but I don't have a great way of sharing. For transcripts, I use Descript. Descript is able to identify all four of our panel members, and I usually spend an hour or so cleaning it up and setting the transcript into a video for YouTube. Source: over 3 years ago
