Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

Opera 7 features
Domainee.dev 6 features
  • Speed
Opera is known for its fast browsing experience due to its optimized browsing engine and efficient resource management.
  • Built-in VPN
Opera includes a free, unlimited VPN service, providing users with increased privacy and security by masking their IP addresses.
  • Battery Saver
The browser features a battery saver mode that extends the battery life of laptops by reducing the browser's power consumption.
  • Ad Blocker
Opera has an integrated ad blocker that enhances browsing speed and user experience by blocking intrusive ads.
  • Customizable Interface
Users can personalize their browsing experience with a variety of themes and workspace options to suit their preferences.
  • Opera Turbo
This feature compresses data to make web pages load faster, especially useful for those with slower internet connections.
  • Sidebar Integration
Opera's sidebar allows quick access to social media, messaging apps, and other tools, enhancing multitasking and productivity.

Possible disadvantages

  • Market Share
Opera has a smaller user base compared to other major browsers like Chrome and Firefox, which can lead to less community support and fewer extensions.
  • Extension Support
Though Opera supports Chrome extensions, the overall availability and variety of native Opera extensions are limited compared to its competitors.
  • Sync Issues
Some users have reported occasional problems with syncing data across devices, which can be inconvenient for those who rely on seamless access to their bookmarks and settings.
  • Compatibility
Certain websites and web applications may not be fully optimized for Opera, potentially leading to compatibility issues.
  • Privacy Concerns
Despite its built-in VPN, some users are cautious about Opera's privacy policies, especially given its ownership by a Chinese consortium.
  • One-CNAME setup with automatic SSL
End users add a single CNAME at their registrar, and Domainee issues and renews their certificate via Let's Encrypt on the first request — no DNS validation back-and-forth.
  • Buy-a-Domain API
Let users search for and purchase a domain without ever leaving your app. One API call registers the domain with your end user as the legal owner, configures DNS, and connects it to your product — at wholesale price plus a flat $1 fee, with your own markup on top.
  • Stripe-shaped REST API
POST /v1/domains creates a domain, returns the CNAME, and fires a domain.verified event over HMAC-signed webhooks the moment DNS lands. Bearer keys and idempotency keys included.
  • Full domain lifecycle endpoints
DNS, nameserver, and renewal management via API, so your users never have to log into a registrar.
  • Hosted MCP server for AI agents
Drop one config block into Claude, Cursor, or any AI agent and get 11 ready-made tools to list, create, and verify domains in plain English — no code change.
  • Real free tier
50 custom domains and 100 GB of bandwidth every month, free forever. The free quota stays free even after you scale past it.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Opera and Domainee.dev.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Domainee.dev's answer:

SaaS founders, developers, indie hackers, product teams, website builders, no-code platform builders, agencies

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Domainee.dev's answer:

Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, MongoDB, AWS (Lambda, S3, CloudFront), Stripe, Let's Encrypt, Express

What's the story behind your product?

Domainee.dev's answer:

I built Domainee because I was tired of seeing developers waste months building the same custom domain and SSL infrastructure for every new project. I wanted to create a "set it and forget it" solution that handles the complex plumbing of DNS and certificates through a single, clean API. Domainee was born to turn a major technical headache into a copy-paste task, allowing founders to focus on their core product instead of infrastructure.

  • Can anyone tell what is this?
This is not opera.com it's "api2 dot com" so it's a malware site posing as an opera one by including opera in its name. I had a popup like this. It opened every time I opened the browser. Turned out it was coming from a video downloader... Source: about 3 years ago
  • Is there a way to download the official browser through a torrent or a mirror link?
The opera.com domain is banned where I live but I still want to download the browser without a VPN (because those are also banned). Is there a torrent link or an alternative/mirror link where I can download the latest Opera One release?... Source: about 3 years ago
  • Opera Adblocker pinging opera.com?
Apparently it "urgently needed to be removed off the network" (bullshit, you could've blocked opera.com, dumbass) I don't see why its so bad to have one kid with an unmanaged browser, like seeing "your browser is managed by your... Source: over 3 years ago
