I've never been enticed by a landing page (yes, datapoint of one). It's either recommendation from source I trust (which has included reddit) and some demo/review available somewhere. There there use to be a stronger distinction between Text Editors and IDEโs. Of course there is a wide spectrum from something like โnanoโ to Microsoftโs Visual Studio (not VScode) On macOS, BBEdit has had SFTP since the late 1990s. It's a server management service, they use AWS (or your host of choice) under the hood. I personally use something similar called Runcloud which I haven't had any problems with. It's a halfway house between a managed platform and your own VPS. Means you don't have to worry about security, vhosts, ssl certificates, restricting access etc... For PHP https://platform.sh has got a lot of traction, but it's notc cheap especially for small apps.
