It started with an email that read: "Can you move the thing on the left a bit? And the colors feel a bit off and flat."
That was the feedback. No screenshot. No annotation. No indication of which "thing," which "left," or which shade of which color. Just a vague paragraph that could mean a dozen different things โ and a client waiting on the other end expecting changes by end of day.
After years working in creative, I'd grown used to this. The back-and-forth. The "can you jump on a quick call?" that turns into 45 minutes of screen-sharing. The email chains with subjects like "Re: Re: Re: Finalv3ACTUALFINAL." The revision requests that only make sense once you've already built the wrong thing.
The real problem wasn't that clients were difficult. It was that they're not creatives. They don't think in pixels, timecodes, or font weights.
