There's nim [1] which is aiming for the same thing - syntax similar to python and performance similar to C++, zig etc. 1 - https://nim-lang.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 13 days ago
> GC languages are slower This is not necessarily true. It depends on a language, e.g. Go is slow, Nim[0] is extremely fast with conventional GC and slightly faster with ARC/ORC[1]. GC programs can be faster than manually managed ones in some cases. It's just manual memory management gives you more control of where and when free is called. And a good type system is a privelege that gives Nim more control with... - Source: Hacker News / 18 days ago
First glance I thought someone was referring to https://nim-lang.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 25 days ago
That's actually a great argument for Nim[0]. Easy interop with C, native-speed performance, and a syntax very close to Python in both readability and how quickly you can get something working. Batteries included, automatic memory management without a conventional GC and metaprogramming - is a really cool combination. [0] - https://nim-lang.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
Coincidentally, just a few days ago, I tried to run Nim[0] on Windows XP as an experiment. And to my surprise, the latest 32-bit release of Nim simply works out the box. But Nim compiles to C, so I also needed C compiler and all modern versions of mingw failed to launch. After some time I managed to find very old Mingw (gcc 4.7.1) that have finally worked [0]. ยท Know how to handle group projects. Whenever you can, work with 1-2 people you trust, as coordinating meetings with fewer people is easier and it's less likely you'll have to deal with a terrible group member. Make a group chat with all members soon after the project is assigned to plan responsibilities and a list of deadlines. Even if you don't get to work yet, having these expectations upfront will help later... Source: about 4 years ago
This is a unique situation, this group will be perfect for you if your schedule changes weekly due to work. Every Saturday I will put up a calendar from when2meet.com (here's an example of what one would look like: https://www.when2meet.com/?13707207-P379a). Source: over 4 years ago
If you want to try to set it up online, I highly recommend when2meet.com, can set up good times by date or day and get real specific. Source: about 5 years ago
I'm looking to create a clone of the website when2meet.com for a project. Can anyone help me with where to start and how I should go about doing this? Thank you in advance. Source: over 5 years ago
Personally I have not used meetme.com before, but I do use when2meet.com quite often. It lets you select the days you want to look at (maybe giving them a 2 week range) and you each fill out what times on those days you are available. Then give them a deadline to have their info input, maybe 3 days as it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. Source: over 5 years ago
