  • Free Plan Availability
Minehut allows users to create Minecraft servers for free, providing an accessible option for those who want to explore server hosting without financial commitment.
  • Plug-in Integration
The platform supports a wide range of plugins, enabling users to customize their servers with additional features and functionalities.

  • Scalability
Users have the option to easily upgrade their server plans if they need more resources, providing flexibility as their server needs grow.

Possible disadvantages of Minehut

  • Performance Limitations
The free plan and lower-tier paid plans may have limitations in terms of server performance, affecting gameplay during periods of high activity.
  • Advertised Server
Free servers on Minehut are sometimes used to advertise, which might be undesirable for users seeking an ad-free environment.
  • Queue Times
During peak times, users may experience queues when trying to access their servers, potentially delaying gameplay.
  • Limited Customization
Compared to self-hosted server solutions, Minehut may offer less control and fewer customization options for advanced users.
  • Dependency on External Service
Reliance on an external platform means users have less control over server uptime and are subject to Minehut's operational status.

Cuberite features and specs

  • Performance
Cuberite is known for its efficiency and low resource usage, which makes it suitable for running on less powerful hardware, like Raspberry Pis or older computers.
  • Highly Modifiable

  • Cross-Platform
Cuberite runs on multiple operating systems including Linux, Windows, and macOS, providing users with versatility and ease in setting up servers on different types of machines.
  • Open Source
As an open-source project, Cuberite allows anyone to contribute to its development, leading to a collaborative environment and continuous improvements from the community.

Possible disadvantages of Cuberite

  • Feature Incompleteness
Cuberite might not have complete feature parity with the official Minecraft server, potentially lacking some newer features or game mechanics present in the latest Minecraft versions.
  • Compatibility
Due to differences from the official server, some plugins, mods, or tools designed for the vanilla Minecraft server might not work seamlessly or at all with Cuberite.
  • Community Size
While Cuberite is open-source, it has a smaller user base compared to the official Minecraft server community, which might mean fewer resources, tutorials, and third-party support.
  • Development Speed
Being a community-driven project, Cuberite's development relies heavily on volunteer contributors, which can result in slower updates and feature additions compared to official servers.

  • Roblox Is Already the Biggest Game in the World. Why Can't It Make a Profit?
First off, it's generally a good idea not to port-forward your own home router outside of defaults (Even if it's just 25565; I created a nightmare scenario for the ISP guy back at my parent's house when I was around 13 doing this). There's tons of options to host servers in the cloud with near absolute control. I used to use a SaaS company called Minehut (https://app.minehut.com/) before I got into cloud computing... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • How to create a server (Java)
On the newest version of minecraft, open it, click multiplayer, then click "add server", then type "minehut.com" in the server address. Then, click done and then click the server you just created. Once your in, click the compass and then click the oak sign "Create Server". This will create your own server with /op. Make sure you remember the name of it so you can use /join [name] to join it back. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Is it possible to join a random world with online strangers in Java version?
Do you mean like Omegle in Minecraft? If so, I don't know how, but there is a way on certain server hosting things to join their main "hub" server and from there join a random server hosted with that server hosting thing. One I know of is Minehut. There are videos of people doing just that--search up "joining random people's minecraft servers" or similar. Source: over 2 years ago
  • How can I play survival with a friend?
What device did you get minecraft on? If your on windows did you buy the Windows 10 Edition or the Java Edition. If you bought java edition (windows, Mac, and Linux) probably the best way is to use something like Minehut. If you bought a different version (Windows 10 Edition, mobile, console) then I can't help you. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Need help creating Minecraft Pi server for school.
I don't know about Cuberite server. I'd be worried about gamplay, you would also need a proxy for supporting newer versions, but that wouldn't be practical either. Source: over 3 years ago
