Session Messaging App
SimpleX is a new platform for distributed Internet applications where the privacy of the messages and the network matters most. The current version is stable, robust and can be used from the terminal (command line) on all major desktop platforms (Linux/Mac/Win) and on Android phones in Termux!
There is currently no messaging application that respects user privacy and guarantees metadata privacy โ in other words, messages could be private, but a third party can always see who is communicating with whom by examining a central service and the connection graph. SimpleX, at its core, is designed to be truly distributed with no central server. This allows for enormous scalability at low cost, and also makes it virtually impossible to snoop on the network graph.

How does it compare to MatterMost [1]? [1] https://mattermost.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
Slack's value is real, especially for cross-company conversations with clients and vendors. But for internal communication in companies that care about data residency or audit requirements, Mattermost is a credible self-hosted alternative. The source is on GitHub and the Mattermost deployment guide covers the install on Docker, Kubernetes, and most Linux distributions. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
For those who may have forgotten, Mattermost is quite good these days: https://mattermost.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
Despite their confusion as to whether they want to really support their free and open source versions (without some absurd user count cliff), Mattermost (https://mattermost.com) is quite excellent and IMO is better than Slack. For example, editor leans towards native Markdown so things like syntax highlighting with backticks work as you expect. Their recent update removed the paywall from SSO (and unfortunately... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
Black businesswomen? Firefighters? White servicemen? White software developers? I really don't get what you're implying. I don't see any problem with the photos on the mattermost front page. https://mattermost.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
Anyway, copying and reproducing is a great way to learn. It also train the mind to decompose every applications in small pieces. The same could have been done for Briar, SimpleX or Telegram applications, all of them are open-source and available on Github, Gitlab or somewhere else. Some of them are supporting mobile, desktop and web platform, in short, they are great targets. To summarize, if you want to learn how... - Source: dev.to / about 1 month ago

I like the way SimpleXChat works. Good luck getting anyone to switch to it though. https://simplex.chat/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
Https://simplex.chat/ Seems to take security and decentralization pretty far while keeping it convenient enough. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
I want to switch to SimpleX Chat[1] but at the moment there are issues with battery usage on android devices because of the way notifications are done. I hope this[2] or some other solution get merged soon even if there is a slight impact on anonymity.
