In case you don't know. Mattermost is an open-source, self-hostable chat service designed for organizations and companies. It's an open source alternative to Slack or Microsoft Teams. For a long time I've seen their name recommended a lot among open source enthusiasts. It's also a huge project. I thought it would be a nice challenge to get involved and contribute. This repo is the primary source for core development on the Mattermost platform; it's written in Go and React and runs as a single Linux binary with MySQL or PostgreSQL. A new compiled version is released under an MIT license every month on the 16th. - Source: dev.to / 7 months ago

I set up Mattermost on a Linux server I had standing around. Problem solved with the (still a little buggy but usable) remind plugin. And as an extra bonus now our team talk is completely private with full history. Source: about 2 years ago
